I suppose a lot has to do with the actors commitments, money etc
I may be wrong but i'd also suspect that a vast proportion of the production crew is probably planned to work on more than one of the GOT spin-offs series which again would likely limit just how often they could produce a GOT based TV season.
I think if a show got recommissioned for multiple seasons , they would likely try and film multiple seasons at the same time whilst they are have the actors and are in the correct locations. However as it tends to get recommissioned one season at a time, at around the time the previous season starts to air it does mean they can't produce a new season annually.

At the glacial pace of the recent episodes, there would need to be several seasons in total to cover the book.
I'd think at least one more after this one, possibly two but that presumably depends on ratings.

Posted by a Sky employeeHey,
I am sure there will be season 3, but not sure about season 4. I would love to have another series about Valyria in it's prime and the doom after this one.

I believe it's expected to air in 2026 with a different GOT spinoff ( Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ) which is currently being filmed being broadcast next year.

Thanks for that information. I can't see it running for as long as Game of Thrones but happy a 3rd season is in the offing.

Perhaps GoT was the same but I have just forgotten!

I kind of know what you are saying, but there has to be a lot of dialogue to make the exciting bits more exciting.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreA third season is set for release next year.
There has been no mention of a fourth season, but so far for this series, a new series has only officially been confirmed a month before the current season starts
From what I have fathomed and with the timeline from the original books, it may only be three seasons.
But, there are plenty of talk/rumours about other pre/post timelines and expanded character stories of the two we have had so far for new future series.
I would be very surprised, if there were no more around the Westeros world, seeing its populatity.

Plenty of avenues to explore in the existing material.

Yes you certainly can't hurry George R R Martin. I suppose creativity can't be rushed.

There is always so much speculation about if there is going go be another season, is there going to be a spin off etc. We never know until it happens.
It was the same with Game of Thrones, there was meant to be a series called SNOW it even had the posters etc with ghost and Jon Snow but nothing ever came of it. I would have loved that to have been screened.

I've decided to stop watching. I've become terribly bored by the glacial pace of the storytelling. I've better things to do with my life, and there are much better drama series elsewhere which I'm finding to be much more engaging.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the series and any future ones. I'm out!
