It seems counterproductive from a Disney business perspective. When they are trying to cover for customer churn on Disney+ and make sure revenue for that platform doesn't drop, why would they incur the cost ( and likely associated loss) with relaunching traditional TV channels, when that form of media is dying?

It's apparently being discussed on X and Reddit, so 'reliable' isn't the word I'd choose to apply ; )

There is an encrypted test on 12.188 H with EPG listings for Disney related cartoons but there is no confirmation of what the channel is yet.

Re: Disney Channel UK returns!?

Not to mention a few sleuthers on Digital Spy have spotted schedule data which includes certain relatively new Disney shows that haven't had a linear outing on TV yet (particularly in regards to that Wizards reboot).

I'm not really sure Disney has any justification to return to UK linear when their networks rated poorly nearer their closure, not to mention the end of the pandemic definitely put a hamper on that too and the growth of Disney+ as a consequence. I presume that if this works out, we may end up seeing the revival of FX next. But that's just speculation methinks.

It's currently hearsay, nothing has been said officially.

Some Twitter posts say it's Disney Jr., some say it's just for Disney stores and it will show segments of shows and adverts for Disney, so it won't be an actual channel.

Re: Disney Channel UK returns!?

A channel for DIsney stores wouldn't be broadcast on a Sky transponder, or on satellite at all these days. It would be delivered over an internal network.

I have seen a few claims that this channel, whatever it is, will launch on 3rd October but I think that is just more guesswork based on the person who found the EPG data linking to 3rd October. There is EPG data for other days before and after that including today so nothing special about 3rd October.

I'm just providing info. This is what people on Twitter have been saying. I never said it was true or false.

Let's see what happens. If it's a channel, I presume there will be a cost?
