Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

To be fair all of the Tennis,Cycling,snooker and Winter Sports [Along with the Winter and Summer Olympics belong to Eurosport] NOT T.N.T. I just hope that until T.N.T. deceide to pick up the above sporting rights T.N.T. will stay loyal to the Eurosport production and commentary teams for T.N.T. has surely not in the current circumstances.

I think the Sky hardware can make a difference to the packages you can get . I have SkyQ and can only get TNT Sports/Discovery+ if I subscribe to the Signature pack whereas I believe if you have SkyStream you can just add it to the cheaper Essentals package. I have had several goes at talking to Sky but have been unable to sort anything out that is remotely satisfactory to me so my cancellation is still effective wef 28 February.

As I also have Amazon Prime Video I am planning on adding Discovery+ at £30.99 to that. Currently there is a 7 -day free trial so I will try that first and see what cycling coverage is available, i.e. is it the same as is currently available on Discovery+? I have no interest in the other sports but I would sorely miss the cycling.

Most years I would say the same but not sure I want to pay £31 a month to watch Pog win everything!

cancelling Sky isn't really an option for me. Our viewing is dependent on it. No aerial. No easy way of feeding a signal to the other 2 TVs. But solving that is now getting higher on the priorties list.

Not quite true. The rights to those sports are held by Warner Bros Discovery, the owners of both those channels.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

A little unexpectedly, in fact 9 days early, (although Sky did email me today to say I would be losing access to my apps) when I sat down to watch cycling with my lunch, my apps had disappeared from my Sky screen. Being impatient and having already wasted far too much time on the phone to Sky, I bit the bullet and signed up for Discovery+ including TNT Sports on my Prime Video account. I couldn't find the free trial - the link took me to the US site - but anyway I went ahead.

The app is nowhere near as good to navigate as the Discovery+ app on Sky - there isn't a separate page for cycling where it is split up into road cycling, cross country, extended highlights etc. (live and upcoming is separate) and you just have to scroll through all the thumbnails (if that's the right term). I think it will just take a bit of time to get used to it. The Discovery + app, though, does load faster than it did on Sky Q. There is a huge amount of back catalogue including full coverage of grand tour stages, World Champs etc plus loads of obscure stuff - my impression is there is far, far more than in the Sky Discovery +app.

On checking Sky again, my apps had reappeared, so my impatience means I have paid for an extra 9 days of discovery that I needn't have done. At least I know all the cycling I want to see is available. Happy Days!

I have a TV in a room without an aerial and bought one Fire TV stick to test it out. You can get live TV with it. Maybe worth that small investment to try it out yourself.

I am still with the understanding that the T.N.T. sports app will NOT be avaliable on Amazon Prime Video drom February 28th 2025. Also Discovery + [Non sport package will only be avaliable at a price of £3.99 p a month with ads.

Not sure where you got that from.

As i mentioned in a previous post the Discovery + help pages clearly indicate both tiers are available via Amazon Prime Channels.

I sincerely hope so as Discovery + does load very well on Amazon Prime video.

As I said previously, I have the Discovery+ full package (TNT Sports) with Prime, and I have received no communication regarding Amazon dropping TNT. It will continue.

@JKenH

I use the app on Android and it has a separate page for cycling. I select Sports, then Cycling up the top and then it shows the latest coverage and then each discipline.

@P-Tnov

Taking you back to the very first post…

the decision to close the Eurosport channels and transfer content to the TNT sports channels was made by the channel’s parent company Warner Brothers Discovery.

@CWS73Yes, that's how it appears on my iPad  as well - very similar to the Discovery+ app on Sky Q. I tend, though,  to watch cycling on TV, which, henceforth, will be via Prime Video which lacks those categories. I do prefer the appearance of the tablet app.

For me part of the problem was that Sky offered no reduction in the price of the signature package to reflect the loss of Eurosport but added on (virtually) the full price of the Discovery+ app if we wanted to continue watching what was previously Eurosport. This hasn't happened in the rest of Europe so why in the UK - perhaps to test the market?

@JKenH

Can you cast from your iPad to your TV?
