Re: Changes to the TV Guide - July 2026
It would be strange indeed if major decisions were made on SD Channels closing down 800's for TNT and has resulted in an EPG huge gap. I completely agree also with the 800 big resuffle with SD needs to be filled out blank, Seems to me that Sky were probably withholding the channels, and not planning new channel's to get 101-999 genre.

I recently emailed Sky about having a uniform EPG guide across the UK & Ireland. Part of the response included the below, which is relevant for your comment.
"[...] channel positioning within the EPG is influenced by a range of factors, including regulatory requirements, regional broadcasting obligations, commercial agreements, and platform considerations. These factors can result in variations between regions to ensure that local audiences continue to receive the appropriate services in a way that meets licensing and prominence rules.
That said, improving ease of navigation and maintaining a logical, user-friendly channel layout are important considerations, and we recognise the value of feedback such as yours when reviewing how the guide is structured."

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - July 2026
There’s still plenty of Entertainment/Documentaries, Music, Sports, News, Religion, Kids, International, SD, Adult need to be tied up. Probably the best Sky can do with what 101-999 keeping it on it's current EPG would make more sense to close all gaps. Sky has currently not given channels notice of any intention to have another EPG big reshuffle, didn't create the new slot when Court TV got axed. Reducing Music genre may also involve high risk financial problems in 300 series, weather that be popular or niche so I guess News/Music can combine both 500 left 5 remaining EPG Channels.

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - July 2026
@Akerman239 Having gaps in channel ranges is irrelevant the Guide still works regardless!
Sky don't own the channel numbers of 3rd party channels and it takes a huge amount of negotiations between all the slot owners for very little gain that causes 99.9% of customers no issue

I agree.
The "need to be tidied up" is not a thing.
The only people who see gaps are those who list the channels in a spreadsheet from 101-999 and don't like rows without a channel name in. There are no gaps when I browse the EPG both on SkyQ and Sky Go 🙂

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - July 2026
Every month we seem to have similar posts. I really don't see this need to fill gaps in the epg listings at all and it's not something that's going to be influenced by customers.

With limited lifetime of satellite tv remaining I'll be amazed if there was another major reshuffle ever

Heh. Reminds me of Harry Enfield's "Angry Frank" character (just spent a nice few mins watching on youtube).
"If one day, I saw that my favourite channel had moved from position 111 to position 160 in the Sky Electronic Programme Guide, I'd say OI! DAVE! NO!"

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - July 2026
Once again - there are no gaps. You'd have to print a list and put your own blank lines in, to see any.

Channels pay differing amount of money for the slots depending on how low the number is, so moving to a higher slot would mean a channel loses some value of what they paid for the original number
When I watched TV, I'd search for the programme name in the listings using the search on the home page, thus the TV Guide and channel numbers were of little use to me
My mum has a hard time using the guide after her stroke, changing channel numbers makes people like hers lifes more difficult than need be
