Transferring Phone Number.
So we're wishing to setup a VOIP phone contract with another company, as it is cheaper than the Sky talk one we've got, however we're still keeping Sky's full fibre broadband, as we've a contract until 2026.
I gather I can lower the contract to a pay as you go but I wish to have our current phone number ported across to the new VOIP contract, thus Sky would need a different phone number to be assigned.
Is this at all possible with Sky?

Re: Transferring Phone Number.
@cuke I stand to be corrected but afaik no
the new provider would need to do a full line takeover to move the number meaning you would need a new line and number for sky

Re: Transferring Phone Number.
That's my understanding too. Sky can only port your number on a house move, or when switching to another provider.

Re: Transferring Phone Number.
@Mark39 @SKY1992bf Many thanks in taking time to reply.
We don't have a dedicated phone line coming in as we have full fibre so the current connection is just Sky's weird voip setup. So Sky cannot just change their number to a new one which then frees the one we have so then it can be ported across to the new voip contract? It's not like they are physical copper lines of old.
I'll give then a call this week, as we need to also talk about Sky TV as well, but unfortunately our broadband contract runs until September 2026. However I've managed to find an ISP that'll provide us with 1gb down and 1gb up until that date for free using their own connection to our house. Thus we'll have two connections, but I wish to remove the Sky hub that the phone is connected to so, there aren't two of them, and power down the OR ONT. It's no big deal if I can't but it reduces clutter and the VOIP contract is £10 a month for the same package as Sky Talk plus offers at £18 a month.

Re: Transferring Phone Number.
Just to update this thread.
I checked with Sky and any request to have our phone ported across would result in our Sky fibre being disconnected so we're going to stay with them until the contract runs out in September 2026.
Just means I'll have to keep two hubs running until then with the WiFi turned off within the Sky one.
