Sky Talk ...or not!

Switched today from BT fir Internet and phone line. We are in a new buil bungalow and have fibre to the home, and the fibre box in a cupboard down the hall connected the Sky router as necessary to this in the cupboard and Internet all working. Then I went to check the housephone had a tone, no tone. We still have a landlines because of elderly relatives with no mobiles.....I rang Sky to be told that the main housephone has to he plugged into the back of the Sky router which is in the cupboard!! Ridiculous as the main phone has the part which shows if anyone has left messages. We didn't have this trouble with BT, they supplied a voice adapter which our housephone just plugged into Internet lounge. Has anyone else had this? After 1 day with Sky I think I'm going back to BT. can anyone help please?

Unfortunately Sky don't have the adaptor that BT provide with their Digital Voice service. A solution might be a standard cordless DECT phone, where a base station plugs into the Hub, and the handset(s) placed wherever it's needed. There may, however be a range issue with the Hub being placed in a cupboard, unless it can be relocated externally by using longer cable to the ONT.

Re: Sky Talk ...or not!

Thank you, appreciateyour help.  I won't go down the hub route as it is putting more appliances in the cupboard and as you say the signal could be an issue.

Back to BT tomorrow then.
