I had a call from head office a couple of weeks ago about this matter , because I had a complaint logged on my account from April . No fix in sight any time soon and if anything changes I will be contacted, if I need any help with my account then i can call them , I do wonder why they cannot fix it though .

Good evening all.
I took out contract with Sky last month, including talk anytime landline As Sky advertise call shield I have just bought a set of good quality cordless phones without extensive call filtering.
It seems that like everyone else on this thread I have been repeatedly getting the "whoops, there is an error" message when trying to activate call shield.
I have been clearing caches, using different browsers, even different pcs to try & activate call shield which caused much frustration but without success, but now, reading this thread it seems that this problem has been affecting customers for over 6 months which is pretty disgraceful if its been the same issue all the time. Am I right in thinking that Sky are advertising a service that they are failing to provide?

Ill be honest with you its not worked for a long time some people 12 months now sky have no intention of fixing it in fact sky just blank this thread now dont give any updates or anything the fact there still selling a useless product is scandalous !!!!

Sky are still promoting talk shield, and it's one of the reasons I joined sky, it seems they are selling a product, part of which, over an extended period, they are then failing to provide, This could be construed as mis selling, which is a criminal offence in the UK so I hope Sky really are trying to restore the talk shield service

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIt functions correctly except for a minority of customers.

As ive said before there is thousands of customers affected by this an that information has come from sky themselfs along with the info give on here that they dont really have any intention of looking into or fixing tbe problem. tbh even 1 customer it not working for especially a new customer just sold a contract is a disgrace. !

Thanks for the reply. If only a few are affected, do we know whats causing the failure to activate or why Sky havent come up with a fix?.
Reading forum replys on the subject of talk shield not being accesible it would appear that many customers are having the problem and Sky arent/can't fix it. As a newby to Sky I have to take what I read at face value, unless presented with further info & currently it's not possible to activate talk shield & seemingly lots of others have the same issue so I would welcome any input on accessing the service

Sorry, last reply was to Mark39

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI would guess that if only a minority were being affected that would actually make it harder to find the cause, but I'm no tech person.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@shoal48 nobody except Sky knows how many are affected by this fault. I take with a pinch of salt the 'thousands' quoted elsewhere. It's highly unlikely that Sky would disclose the actual numbers. My guess is that the number affected isn't large enough, as a percentage of total Talk customers to warrant a high priority investigation into the cause and the development of a fix. Just reading between the lines....

@Mark39 so now i am lying about wot sky told me early on into this journey the idea of this forum is to help people not to judge any1 and here i am me as a cancer patient undergoing chemo therapy and having sky talk shield stuck on my fone as no matter wot ive tried i can access it at all when alot of my consultations are phone based having to use my mobile as my landline is useless and has been useless and a waste of money shelled out every month but hey here i am getting judged as a lier same when u judged me for not sending my personal details to a sky employee on here as i was already dealing with sky myself so thanks again for the constant judgement that we the " minoroty " according to u dont matter !!!!

I completely agree, as a retired techie, the more data available the better the chance of pinpointing the problem but, there seems to be 2 schools of thought here, we know the/a problem has been occurring since at least 2022 and, from this forum, there are clearly folk who have been trying to get a resolution for some months and there are references to large numbers of customers being affected. On the other hand an experienced user believes it is small number affected. Personally I would have thought that 6 months is long enough to identify an issue affecting several users. Can I ask, if anyone reading this thread actually has talk shield working as it should?

@Mark39 its wot u have implied over the several months we have all been involved with this as forum im sorry but i know what i was told by sky when i finally got them to admit there was a problem they told me there was an issue and it was being worked on an thousands of people involved but hey u take that with a pinch of salt the fact even 1 person is accected by a fault that affects the service we are paying for is just not good enough in my opinion for where i am in life im looking for help and solutions not judgement ive decided now i need to go get some legal advice on this ive given them 8 months sinse i developed the fault and its been the worst 8 months of my life but this has only made it worse cos i would like the service im paying for !!!
