I have recently started a Sky broadband / Sky Talk package. I have plugged my rotary dial telephone in to the router as advised and can hear a dialling tone. I can receive calls but can’t dial out for some reason. Is this because it’s a rotary telephone?

Apologies, I have absolutely no idea what that means - can you explain in layman's terms please? Many thanks

Ah, ok. So my old telephones won't work properly then. I need to get a more modern telephone for it to allow outgoing calls. Thank you for your help.

Most likely for the reason given in @GD1's earlier post. You used to be able to buy a hand held tone generator which would overcome this, but I doubt they're still available.
