No dial tone on landline phone - not used this for a long time

I haven't used my landline for ages , but decided to update lounge and add a phone again . Old phone there was no dial tone , so ordered a corded one ( as Google suggested ) and there is still no tone .

when ringing landline number from mobile phone this rings on my mobile - but not on landline . Any help greatly appreciated

Does your Sky Broadband Hub have a 'Voice' light which is lit? If so, your phone needs to be plugged into the Hub, not the wall socket.
