New customer and can’t connect my Landline to my Router.

New Sky customer this week. Went live two days ago and was on the phone to Sky for ages trying to get my Landline plugged into my Router. The cable Phone cable wouldn't fit in the Router port. I was told it was an old cable and to buy a new one from Amazon. Which should fit as there all the same for Landlines 📞. Well this new one doesn't fit either. The UK phone 📞 port on the Router is a completely different shape than the new cable I've just purchased, which is exactly the same as my old one. So I've wasted £5 and still doesn't fit.

The socket at the back of the Hub, is exactly the same as the wall socket. So if your phone previously plugged into the wall socket, the same cable should plug into the Hub.

It's not the same shape as the as the space where it goes on the Router. It's a different shape than the cable I had before and the new one. Customer service says they're all the same, so why don't they fit?

That's looks like an RJ11 cable not a standard phone cable. Can you post a picture of the wall socket too?

I was told to buy this by Customer Service. She said they're all the same, the new ones.

They could well be wrong in what they have told you so can you now post the picture as per the post from @Mark39 ?

The correct cable required is a RJ11 to BT-431A

I haven't a clue 🤔 I was just sent this Router and told to connect it myself. Nobody even mentioned the Landline, even though I said I'm keeping my landline and pho number. Like I've said, the Customer Service woman said all the phone line connections are all the same.

Re: New customer and can’t connect my Landline to my Router.

This is my Vodafone Router with the same connection as the new cable I was told to get.
The White one is my new Sky one where the Phone connection is a completely different shape.

This is my Wall socket from Openreach, which Sky Customer Service agent said is the right one and the right setup.IMG_4488.jpegIMG_4491.jpeg

Bottom line is that the cable you have purchased is incorrect, unless used with an rj11 to bt adapter plug.

@Stellavision  how many pins should be in a RJ11 to Bt431A cable if buying a new one?  2 or 4 ?
