Line In Use message

Hi

My main phone works fine, but the second handset displays the message Line In Use. I have reset my router, unplugged the phone and checked the cables, no luck.

@welshguy2017 do you have Internet calls (where your main phone plugs into your broadband Hub)?

Are you using cordless phones?

How is your second phone connected?

To clarify - do your phones connect wirelessly to a base station which plugs into your Hub? (That would be standard DECT phone arrangement)

@welshguy2017 I'm sorry, that's too vague to help us work out what the problem is. How is your second phone connected?

Re: Line In Use message

The main phone and base is conected to the Sky router, the one thats not working is just a handset and base.

Perfect, thank you.

Your handsets connect wirelessly to the base station plugged into your Hub. It's the base station that actually makes and receives calls via the Hub connection.

As your main phone is working normally, there's no fault either with the landline service provided by Sky, or your base station or the main phone.

It looks like a problem with the second handset.

I'd suggest 2 things to try.

1. Turn the base station off at the plug (no need to turn off the Hub itself) and temporarily move the second handset to where the main one is,usually placed so they're together. Then turn the base station back on and see if the 'line in use' message has gone away.

2. If that doesn't work, try keeping the second handset off the charging base until it's battery is completely exhausted. Then return it to the charging base to recharge and se if the message has gone.

You might also find some help in the user manual or via the phone manufacturer's support team.
