Landline not working

Hey guys needs some advice, everything seams to work (broadband & TV) but our landline seams to be acting up. When you go to make a call the house phone dials the number but doesn't ring and it doesn't get incoming calls. I've unplugged the cable and reconnected and reset the router but nothing works. I've checked the cable but nothings broken. The house phones are old so don't know if it could be the phones, any advice ?

@Rosemary4 just to confirm first - is your phone plugged into the socket at the back of your Sky broadband Hub?

Hi yes the landline is connected to the hub.

@Rosemary4 yes, sure, your Hub has to be connected to your landline for your broadband to work.

But I was asking if your phone is plugged into your broadband Hub. Your phone won't work if it's plugged into a wall socket.

Re: Landline not working

The landline is connected to the phone but the phone isn't and it's always been that way and still worked. The phone just suddenly stopped working and when you try calling from your mobile it comes up with "temporarily unavailable".

@Rosemary4 ok, understood. Try the simple connection test here, even if your broadband is working ok - some faults affecting broadband also affect the phone connection:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-diagnostic-start

If it detects a fault, you'll be able to book an engineer there and then.

If not, it's best reported to Sky as they'll be able to run further line tests to find where the fault lies. We can ask Sky's messaging team to contact you here so that you can report it via a private online chat, if you wish.
