Landline is not working

We had Sky set up last week, including a new router and a visit from Openreach to upgrade to fibre broadband. The Internet is fine, but the landline does not work. It is plugged into the router as instructed. This seems to be a common problem but there is no direct answer in any of the threads.

Does your router have a Voice light on the front panel and is it lit?

No, it doesn't have a voice light. I have the Sky Max Hub.

OK, first try restarting it, by switching it off at the plug for 30 seconds or so. Let us know if that doesn't resolve it, in which case there's most likelt a fault which will need reporting to Sky. If you wish, we can ask their messaging team to contact you here so that you can report it by way of a private online chat.

I switched the router off at the wall for 30 seconds,  but I'm afraid the landline still does not work.  Please can we ask the messaging team to contact me as you suggest.

Ok, I've alerted Sky and a Community adviser may be able to help you via private, online messaging tomorrow. Look out for a blue/red chat 'bubble' towards the bottom of the page and an email inviting you to chat online. Replies from Sky may not be instant, so check back from time to time for updates. Once initiated the chat remains open for a maximum of 48 hours.

I'm having the same problem. Had it all activated and have no dial tone at all and doesn't ring if I call my number from another phone. I've plugged it into the hub (I have a sky max hub) and also tried it directly in the phone socket, still nothing. If someone could invite me to a chat would be much appreciated.

To get you some help with this I have escalated your post to the Sky Messaging team who should be in touch with you regarding this via a blue/red chat bubble which will appear at the bottom of this page. It can take up to a few hours to be contacted via this.


This link explains how this works so you will need to respond to the chat bubble at the bottom of the page when it appears by typing it it to start the chat:

When the chat bubble does appear you will need to respond to it as soon as you can or it will be closed if there is no response within 48 hours. To start the conversation just type in it.
This isn't a live chat so replies are not instant.

Hi I was advised earlier my sky talk would be working by 5pm tonight and it still isn't. My broadband was activated yesterday around 4pm. It is completely dead no dial tone just a clonk after 20 seconds of listening. Can anyone help please 🙏
