Hi
I will soon be changing from Super Fast Broadband to Ultra Fast which means having a fiber box installed.
I have been given conflicting information regarding keeping my landline number (which I have had for 34 years). I spoke to someonem at Sky tech dept. who told me I will have to plug my phone into the router (which will be connected to the ONT box). It will generate a number and I will have to phone a friend who will then tell me what my new number is. I called the tech dept. back to confirm this and was told I can keep my current number. But I have lost confidence in this, as I am not prepared to lose my number.
Has anyone else had this problem and have kept their number?
I have also heard that Sky can Port a number, though I'm not too sure what this entails.
So any information on this would help.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@vipsana Then that all will change is you will just plug your phone into the back of the router and you should keep your old number when this happens.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@vipsana That is rubbish if you are already with Sky for broadband and phone. All that should happen is your services get moved from copper to fibre. There is no change in the phone number that you already have.
Where do you plug your phone into just now? The socket in the wall or into the back of the router?

@HighlanderThanks for a quick reply. I plug the phone into a phone socket.
