We started to lose some channels on Saturday. Have rebooted box various times, but still not working. We have bbc2 but not bbc 1 and no its and some sky channels not working. Seems odd as its about half of channels not getting signal.

Find out moreIf restarting your Sky box (switch it off at the plug for at least 4 minutes) doesn't resolve it, there's a problem with your dish setup - most likely the dish is slightly out of alignment or the LNB on the arm of the dish is failing, especially it it's more than 5 years old.

We've done the reboot a few times. Would that cause us to only lose some channels? Do I need an engineer for that? Dish has been up over 10 years.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYes, it's not uncommon for dish faults to result in only some channels failing while others are fine. You'd need an engineer to come out and take a look. Unfortunately Sky are no longer providing engineer support for Sky+ customers (unless you have Sky Protect) so your options are either to engage a local satellite installer, or consider upgrading to Sky Q. The Sky Q installer will check the dish, cables etc and correct any faults at no additional cost as part of the installation.

I've already got upgrade booked in for Jan. Will they replace dish then if required.?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYes. The dish and/or cables will be replaced if the installer thinks they're past it. The LNB has to be replaced anyway as a Sky+ LNB isn't compatible with Sky Q.
It's all included in the Sky Q installation.

Although you have booked an upgrade to SKY Q I think you may benefit from reading some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

If you're connected to a communal dish, it's something to raise with your landlord as it's their responsibility
