We are going digital. How do I get sky tv without a landline?

We have an old landline sky ox, do we get an automatic update when we go digital?

The requirement for Sky+ boxes to be connected to your phone line was dropped many years ago, so it's not something you need to worry about.

But on demand/catchup services would require a phone connection if you use these services unless the sky box has a Wi-Fi modem

Not sure On Demand works via the 56kbps modem in the Sky box? It's far too slow.

I'd be amazed if Sky still has its modem pool ; )

I suppose in theory you could bring in an on-demand item over dial-up.

A rough calculation suggests one hour of HD (say 3 GB) would take about a week.

Of course, someone would make a phone call five days into the download...

(That's made me nostalgic for my USR 56K which is still in a box somewhere ; )
