TV Link stopped working on Sky+ box
Can anyone suggest what I can check as my 2 TV Link's stopped working suddenly yesterday. There's still power to both units (attached to the TV aerial).. The RF ouput is On according to the Sky box. when I checked. I've also tried a Reset and Rebuild on the Sky Box.
I appreciate it's an old and outdated system but both TV Link's can't have broken at the same time. So something else must be causing this.
The Sky+ box attached to my main TV is working fine.

Re: TV Link stopped working on Sky+ box
@Ally11 how are the two links connected to your Sky box's single RF2 socket? There must be a splitter or amplified splitter somewhere which connects them. As both links are affected, that's where I would look first.

Yes you're right we have a splitter in the loft. How can I tell if that has packed up. How can I test it?
thanks

Re: TV Link stopped working on Sky+ box
@Ally11 the easiest way to test it would be to bypass it. Connect the splitter's input cable (the one from your Sky box) to one of the output cables, so that one link is efectively connected directly to the RF2 socket.
You should then get a picture on that one tv. Depending on the length of the cable run, the picture might be a bit grainy as there's no amplification of the signal without the splitter, but it should still prove the point..

Re: TV Link stopped working on Sky+ box
Thanks. I'll give that a go. What is odd though is I am still getting a picture through the Sky Box on the TV's with the TV Link. However what I can't do anymore is change channels ? It's as if the remotes are no longer responding to the TV Link.
I can change channels fine with the remote via the actual Sky Box.

Re: TV Link stopped working on Sky+ box
@Ally11 slightly different issue, then.
You could try the same bypass test to see if that allows one of the magic eyes to work. If it does, it still points to a fault with the splitter. If it doesn't work, do post again.

Re: TV Link stopped working on Sky+ box
Good News. It's working again. Thinking about what you said, I started to wonder if there was something wrong with one of the TV Link unit's. So I disconnected the unit (working on a bedroom TV) and re-connected the aerial direct back into the TV. I then checked the TV Link downstairs and guess what it what working as normal ! It appears the TV Link in the bedrrom had stopped working. Really odd because it was showing power to it (red light on). So this faulty unit stopped the other TV Link froim working and from responding to the remote control.
So thank you for you input. Really helpful.
Just need to try and buy another one now.........if I can. Do you know if I have to get the same make or will any make by compatible, if I can find one.
Thanks again.

@Ally11 good thinking! Glad you've tracked it down. In terms of a replacement, any make should be ok.
