Currently with virgin and looking at going back to sky. I did have a sky hd box, but now it's long gone.
My poser now is this....
Do I order from ebay, another sky hd box, go with Q or try stream ?
I'm currently inundated with offers from sky for both Q and stream.I

You would not be able to access subscription services with a Sky+ HD box ... they are no longer supported by Sky😉

Find out more@cliff53 ignoringSky+HD for the reason given by @Exiled-in-HH , the most basic differences between Sky Q and Sky Stream, are that the former is a satellite based service with local recording onto a hard disk, while Sky Stream is a streaming service with no local recording service. Sky Q therefore requires a satellite dish and Sky Stream requires a broadband connection with at least 20Mbps for HD and 30Mbps for UHD.
Satellite services have a limited remaining life in the UK, probably ceasing by the end of the decade or sooner.

It does indeed. Best do your own research, then.

All seem to have negatives. I suppose stream may be answer. Less wires, etc, not bothered about recording as apps like itv x give you replays anyway

With a Sky+ HD box you would only be able to access FTA DSat channels... you would not be able to access on-demand or record😉

Support forum posts are almost always negative because millions of users generally don't pop in every so often to say everything is working just fine.
If you have decent broadband speed and good local WiFi then Stream is a far more modern system then Q (which was released in early 2016) : just remember that if broadband goes down then Stream has zero functionality for the duration of the internet connection failure.
This apparently comes as a surprise to some subscribers...

Do you actually know what your talking about?
I could return tomorrow to sky and use a sky hd box, with a package, I could record if need be... I know all that.
It's down to wether I wish to go into future and go sky stream or Q

Hm. Are you sure you do?

That was not meant for you. I do know that if I had my old sky hd box and had my subscription, then I would be getting record faci!ity. The suggestion of HH was I wouldnt.
I know I would because sky have offered me my package on my old box and on Q and stream in an effort to get me back

They may well have offered you new subscription on Q, but that generally hasn't been available on Sky+ HD for a while now. Only legacy ongoing subscriptions remain on what's now a very out of date platform with hardware last manufactured in 2015..

Do you know that ... who told you that ... Sky no longer allows new subscriptions for Sky+ HD🤔
A subscription is required to record using a Sky+ HD box😉
