The hard drive has failed on my Sky+hd box
Can it be replaced?
I gather the option of buying another box from eBay and transferring the viewing card has been blocked, but would putting a new drive in still work?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAFAIK the HDD can be swapped and the card be paired but I have not seen anyone post a confirmation, it is much easier to get Sky to upgrade you to a newer system

Viewing card are locked to the box they were paired to at the end of October 2024

I understand that the viewing card is locked to the box.
But is the card locked to the HDD?
If I got someone to replace the HDD would it still work with the viewing card?
(Sorry if I seem thick!)

Thanks, you're probably right.
It's a too much hassle just because I'm trying to avoid changing from a setup I've been happy with. I could end up wasting time and money.

@Mark39 Yup! I've seen a YouTube video and decided it was too fiddly for me.
Extra hassle and expense of paying someone else means it's probably not worth it.
Thanks
