If I can do it and I had Sky Q then either you don't really know what you're talking about or I'm just a technical genius. Anyway I'm not arguing about it. I've not long left Sky Q I still have the box. My Sky+HD box is hooked up now to the exact same cables that were in my Sky Q box.
Perhaps they have changed the boxes since 2019 but the box I have and the Sky Q set up allowed me to re-pair the viewing card to my Sky+HD box and watch premium channels and access my recordings. I quite enjoyed watching my old Christmas time recordings..
Well for 99.9% of customers your solution WILL NOT work due to the reasons outlined above

Trust me you can if you know what you're doing. Follow my instructions and let us know.

I think the problem is that Sky doesn't want it's customers to know how to revert back to their old Sky boxes. I swear on all that is holy that it took me 5 minutes. Why would I lie? haha this is too funny looool

@DanHolland30 what would be even funnier would be is if you have got a hybrid lnb and you didnt even know you did but in all seriousness if you just pluged you sky+HD box in you must have a hybrid lnb there is no other explanation

I've not said that I don't have a hybrid looool I'm an electrical engineer not a Sky engineer..
All's I know is that it was extremely easy to re install my black SkyHD box and use it to access my old recordings which is what this question was about..
I then had two people telling me how impossible this was.. looooool

Selective memory there 😞 it is impossible if you have a standard Wideband LNB as I said above 🙄 But what would I know I've only been a Sky customer since 1989 and been giving Tech support to people on the forums since the creation and also maintain my Sky+ FAQ webpage that has helped 1000's of people

You're not helping people, you're just trying to correct people who are in fact correct.
Yes, you may well be correct in that certain set ups won't work. However for some including myself it is very possible and very easy.

It will only work if you have an hybrid LNB, which aren't installed by default, so for the majority of users, their old Sky+HD won't I initialise.
Depending on the hybrid version, they may need to move to different output ports too.

@DanHolland30 I've found your comments incredibly helpful and I hope your solution will work for me.
My sky plus box continued to work (well at least in terms of free view viewing, recording and watching - the premium channels stopped straight away) for two months after switching.
Then suddenly the recordings now won't play. 😞
Had I known i would have transferred, now I've lost even more recordings!
Phoned Sky and they just sounded like they don't know what they're doing!!
The setup is as before (old property and dish) from 2012 so hopefully this should work for me.
Guess my concern is it may screw up my Q box...?
