I too am having the same problem - it stopped working yesterday. My father also uses the red button daily. I often use it too. I rang Sky yesterday and spoke to a nice advisor but after 30 minutes on the phone the issue wasn’t resolved.
We have a Sky plus HD box. I was told by the advisor that they don’t support HD boxes anymore and to upgrade to SkyQ.
The error message we get is – Interactive Services are not available. Please check your Sky Viewing card is inserted and your Sky box is connected to your broadband. For more help visit sky.com/connections.
I have tried everything but cannot get it to work. Would a new viewing card resolve the issue?
It seems they keep stopping certain features to force you into upgrading to Sky Q.
Hoping this forum can help.

My equipment does not have broadband and up until yesterday I have been able to use BBC Text but now it's not working - what can i do??

Are you on Sky+ HD? This is the Sky Q forum and Sky Q doesn't have the old BBC Text service.
There are a few people in the Sky+HD forum reporting the loss of BBC Text since yesterday so all you can do is wait and see if it comes back or if the BBC have permanently withdrawn it from Sky (the BBC have been wanting to close the red button text for several years).

Thanks for speedy response - Yes, it's a Sky+ box

Sky Q won't help as it doesn't have the BBC text service at all and a new viewing card won't help either as BBC text is a free service available to everyone even those without a viewing card,
The BBC have been wanting to close red button text for several years and first planned to shut it down in 2020 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-49715314 so all you can do is wait to see if it's a fault or if it's gone for good.

Thank you
This has worked for him. He's a happy man and his morning ritual restored (for now). let's hope they don't turn the rest off.
I know this (teletext) seems a ludicrous method to so many younger users, but, it's 'his' version of the internet and is an easy and long time used and trusted source of information for my Dad.

Q has BBC 'Connected Red Button' interactive services delivered through broadband (essentially content taken from the BBC News website and an iPlayer interface). What it doesn't receive is the original interleaved text-only version arriving over the satellite dish.

It's assumed in the design of Q that it only gets installed where there's internet available.
