Had to replace my Sky+ box, replacement works but Sky Movies and Sky sports are giving me the "this is the wrong card" message. I need to pair my new box with the Sky card but all I get on line is Sky Q instructions and customer support is an automated system that is no help at all! I'm getting sort on patience and just want to speak to a human who can pair the card and new box please.

@Jon453 As at end of October 2024 it's no longer possible to pair a card to a replacement box
to continue to receive sky service you will need to upgrade to either sky Q glass or stream

Re: New Sky + box card pairing
As of October last year, it's no longer possible to pair your Viewing Card with a replacement box, I'm afraid. You would have to upgrade to Sky Q or Stream.

Re: New Sky + box card pairing
Thanks for your reply, greatly appreciated.
That's absolutely ridiculous, just another money grabbing scheme from Sky. I won't be upgrading and looking at cancelling my subscription to Sky instead. Constantly putting up the prices and trying to sell you new packages. Does anyone have a phone number to actually speak to a human at Sky?
Thanks, John

A phone number is given on a link on the page linked to below (click on the "Need more help?" drop down):
(make sure the correct country is selected at the bottom of the page)

Re: New Sky + box card pairing
Despite the issue you have the latest T’s and C’s explicitly state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. (If they agree you’ll have to pay the remainder of your discounted term).
To call Sky dial 150 (free) from either a Sky Talk landline or a Sky mobile. Alternatively use this link…
https://www.sky.com/help/home
UK customers: Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ leading to a number starting 0333.
ROI customers: change the flag in the bottom right corner of the link to the ROI flag then scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ to see a dedicated ROI number. (Customer Services in the ROI are not open at weekends).
The forum filters don’t allow the posting of full phone numbers on here.
Calls to Sky will initially be automated which may try to send you here to the forum, offer you online help or offer to send you a text. Stay on the line as long as possible and saying nothing when asked the reason for the call sometimes helps being put in the queue for an agent.
If you successfully cancel you should receive an acknowledgment email from Sky.

Re: New Sky + box card pairing
Thanks Mark,
Disgraceful that Sky pull a trick like that, simply to con people into subscribing to their latest nonsense. I'm going to cancel my subscription to Sky, they aren't getting any more money from me.
thanks for the help

Re: New Sky + box card pairing
Thanks Daniel,
we've had a Sky subscription for years now, and they aren't getting anything else £ wise from me. Not being able to pair cards and Sky boxes anymore is simply another money making con from Sky. Can't even get in touch with a human being on the customer service line.
many thanks for your help 👍

There's no reason why you can't get through to an agent today (unless you're in the ROI).

The Sky Q platform was released in early 2016: it's nearly a decade old...

Re: New Sky + box card pairing
@Jon453 depending on what was wrong with it, getting your old box repaired might be an option, if you don't want to upgrade?
