Advise please

I have a free upgrade to SkyQ booked for later in the month as they have said my sky+ box is becoming obsolete and won't receive upgrades .

When I asked would my subscription increase I was told no as the installation is free. But I have read that you get multi screen facility with the new SkyQ box but this is an additional subscription.

Also do you lose recordings from your sky+ or are they transferred to your new box.

could someone please advise

thanks

Yes, I believe the 'free upgrade' includes a subscription to Multiscreen, but check with Sky or see the terms of the offer. Your recordings will remain on the hard disk of your Sky+ but you'll lose the ability to access them, I'm afraid.

A multiscreen subscription (at additional cost) is required if you want Sky TV on more than one TV. If you currently use multiple Sky+ boxes then you will need to replace them with Sky Q miniboxes.

You will lose all recordings from your Sky+ box. There is no way to transfer them to Sky Q. All you can do is make a list of what you have and try to re-download them onto your Q box when connected.

Free installation is not the same thing as no increase in subscription: if additional service is ordered (such as Multiscreen) then the monthly cost may well change.
