No Satellite Signal

'No Satellite Signal' on your Sky TV can come at any moment. But what causes it, and how do you fix it?

 

Bad weather

 

Heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms can knock your dish and LNB (the arm attached to your dish) out of place. The LNB takes the signal from your dish and transforms it into a suitable signal for your house and devices. If the LNB is affected, you'll experience difficulty getting a decent signal with your TV.

 

You will, unfortunately, need to book an engineer for this issue. Outages / Planned Maintenance

 

If you're wanting to find out if there are issues in your area, hop onto Service Status Checker. This brilliant web page allows you to check the status of your service from Streaming TV to Broadband, right from the comfort of your home. By simply popping in your landline number, you can hone in on your area, to see if it's a widespread issue or if it's specific to your home.

Reset settings

 

Reset Settings in the hidden menu might help with your issues. To enter the hidden menu:

 

1. Press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
2. With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
3. Only carry out the first reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
4. After the Reset you will have to re-pair your Bluetooth remote if you use one.
5. Press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re-pair.
Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

 

 

Updates and Reboots

 

Try turning off your box. Unplug all cables and leads and leave it alone for at least 30 seconds. Then, reconnect everything and try turning it on again. 

 

If this doesn't help, you might need to go into Settings and check that you have the latest software version. To do this, go to Settings, then System Info and highlight Software version. Then, choose Setup and then select Software download. Once you have manually updated your software, give it some time to settle in, but from that point onwards it should kick in.

It would be helpful when there are area outages that an update is given. This is now into the second day in Oundle and no sign of it being sorted and TV and internet services repaired

After returning from a long trip my Sky Q says no signal ( everyone else in my block of flats is fine ). After troubleshooting on my own & with Dean the answer is a tech visit but nothing before 14/09!!!!! Terrible service. Also your app says my Sky mobile number is incorrect when I try and add it. Get your act together. Am seriously considering moving to Virgin

Sky customer for years, Sky box installed earlier this after years of working fine. 
Since installed sky tv began freezing just a little to start with & and got to the stage where sky tv impossible to watch. And this weekend it says no sky satellite signal . I've spent over six weeks waiting to get through to speak to sky but got nowhere . The chat service was hopeless . 
Sky for me are are in breach of contract because from day one this year, they haven't provided what was paid for. The support is crap. I will cancel the direct debit today.

Sky Status checker does not bother to ask where you are it just say no problem in your area

Do they not know you can be hundreds of miles way from your ISP connection

I have a sky+ box and received a new cad a few weeks back. I was till having rouble to I had a new dish installed last night. I am only receiving certain channels. Is there something I can do myself rather than sit for hours on the phone?

All of a sudden a message comes on TV saying there is a problem with your viewing card. It is inserted correctly. Was working fine up till this. Now I can't watch any channels

I am moving to a ground floor Flat, and how do Sky get a signal for TV without a Sky Dish .because the lease doe's not allow residents to have them Installed.

I have had a poor signal for the last 3 weeks and a sky engineer is not available until 21 June. Will my account be credited as the Q box cannot record or show programmes without keep stopping.

I was without SKY TV, Broadband ,Stream tv for 3 weeks ,as i moved in into new flat. Could not get a Sky engineer for 3 weeks. He was at my flat within an hour he had it fixed. A week later my Sky stream remote control packed up. Had a new one sent me in 3days all ok. Sky compensated me satifactoraly ,i am a happy bunny. Can anyone tell me why we don't have a mute button, on the Stream remote cintrol.
