Why does my stream puck have to be rebooted at least 2 or 3 times a week?
SkyOS which runs on the puck is linked directly to Sky's servers - all the apps are hosted on there, as well as all your playlist information and programme identifiers. It's quite a complicated system with hundreds of thousands of customers connected to these servers, all accessing data at the same time.
The pucks aren't very sophisticated, just slave devices really, and can get sluggish at periods of high server congestion. A reboot can help refresh the connection, flush the cache and speed things up a bit.
If you feel that you're having to do it excessively then make sure your home broadband network is as fast and stable as possible at all times. Contact Sky for further troubleshooting and potential puck replacement if they deem it to be faulty.
