Sky doesn't show much football or rugby - where should I go? Seems you have to subscribe to 2-3 additional services.

Previously, when I lived in South Africa and in the United Arab Emirates, I could have watched all of these from one subscription. When I left the UK, Sky had everything, I am pretty sure.Sky have never had everything sport live, even soccer or rugby🤔
@Exiled-in-HH from 92/93-06/07 sky did hold exclusive rights to all premier league games sold
then from 07/08 season the European Union stuck their noses in and demanded that the rights were sold to more than one broadcaster and the premier league has done so ever since despite the agreement with the eu expiring a long time ago

Well, I couldn't watch the Spurs or Man U games this afternoon. I couldn't watch the Glasgow URC game and I couldn't watch the Sarries rugby union game either.

If Sky has the majority of PL games, why is it only showing three this weekend? Not interested in football league. Sky didn't show the Sarries or Glasgow rugby union matches either. In other countries, I could get all of these for one subscription.

There is significant competition in the UK for UK sports rights hence the sports rights are spread across a number of companies😉

@GrahamMcGeachy the Spurs game was on TNT which requires a separate subscription and the Man Utd game wasn't broadcast because it was a 3pm kick off.
Not every game is televised which is a decision made by the Premier League so that it doesn't affect attendance figures at the games.
But I agree with what you're saying saying, it would be nice for every game to be televised like they are in other countries.

@Exiled-in-HH ok I'll re phrase it sky were allowed to show all the games the premier league made available for broadcast as mentioned above
granted the premier league has never made all 380 games available in the uk (with the exception of the 20/21 season due to no fans being allowed due to pandemic, with sky bt bbc and Amazon showing all games between them)

Rights sales to different markets vary: in countries where the potential audience is much smaller it's more efficient to sell a complete bundle.
As noted above, back in 2005 it was European Commission intervention which broke the original Sky monopoly on PL coverage in the UK.
