Sluggish operation when using pucks.

Just a question rather than an issue. Is anyone else experiencing lagging when using pucks? I've two pucks and a constant broadband speed of around 900 megabits per second but just recently I'm forever getting the spinning icon bottom left when loading the home page and the whole experience on both of my pucks just feels sluggish.Playback and everything else is fine including UHD and absolutely nothing has changed, both connected to the router via WiFi in fact one of the pucks is literally next to the router and both say "excellent WiFi connection ", I've cleared the cache on both of them by disconnecting from the mains for a short period and even performed a factory reset on one of them (which is an utter pain) to no avail. Is this a Sky issue? Can't believe I've got two dodgy pucks.

Thanks for your reply but as I indicated previously I had the puck connected via Ethernet and having noted from reading these forums that the puck has a 100 mbps chipset and  I have Sky fttp broadband I turned WiFi back on and connected that way as my incoming data speed is considerably faster than that.
Unfortunately it made no difference!

Most likely it's server congestion. Most of SkyOS is server-based, hence the occasional lag or periods of sluggishness.

Ironically that's not actually an ideal location for a wireless device.  You could perhaps try running it over ethernet cable with WiFi switched off.

Re: Sluggish operation when using pucks.

Thanks I had it on Ethernet until literally a couple of days ago and I read in these forums that the Ethernet is capped on the pucks at 100 mbps so as my broadband is just shy of a gig I thought it would solve my problem. Alas no! For the record the second puck in the bedroom (so a good way from the router) has the same issue. The Netflix Speedtest is fine on both.

That's correct (because it's a 100Mbs rather than gigabit ethernet chipset) but nothing a Stream puck does needs more than 30Mbs which is why a higher specification is unnecessary.

Re: Sluggish operation when using pucks.

Oh yes not a criticism but just thought the higher speed to the puck would solve my perceived issue but no. I'm guessing it's probably a server issue on Skys side and I'll leave it for now with fingers crossed. My logic being it's unlikely I've got two dodgy pucks.

Thank you for your replies.

@Paddiewack

Out of interest, who is your ISP and which router or WiFi distribution hardware do you have?

Hi @Paddiewack  I commented only yesterday that the puck seems to be sluggish over the last few days.  It's not slow enough to cause any significant issues but is definitely slower that normal.  It does seem better today though.

Re: Sluggish operation when using pucks.

Make sure the Ethernet cable is connected but importantly, make sure WiFi is switched off in settings.

Not seeeing any sluggishness on either of my pucks.

Sounds like you may need a settings restart, if you have not done one in a week or so.

We have been told doing so about once a week, tends to helps.

Re: Sluggish operation when using pucks.

Done them! Restart/unplugging from mains/and on one of them a factory reset. The last one was an utter pain in the bum.

No amount of restarting, rebooting or refreshing can affect how congested the server your SkyID is assigned to is at any given time.

This is part of the reason why customers have such varying experiences of Sky Stream. Some have a perfectly fine time, others not, because they are hosted on different servers.
