Out of all they terestrial tv apps, itv x is the worst by a very long way.

What is it about the app which makes it the worst?

I've personally never had any trouble with it, however, I subscribe to ITVX Premium and don't use a Stream puck to access it.

Yeah, that's partly why I no longer use it on a Stream puck. It works fine on our Apple TV 4K boxes.

Itv x is not the greatest streaming app in general but is a vast improvement on itv hub. Cant say I've had too many issues with navigation being slow etc. have you tried the refresh apps in the settings menu? It can take several hours to work in the background

@Mitch16 As suggested by @Jporch316 you could try refreshing the ITVX App.  Unlike the other Apps on the Streaming platform which can take hours to refresh there is a short cut for ITVX which clears the cache instantly.

To reset the ITVX app: open the app & enter 0 0 0 0 7 7 7 Note there is nowhere specific to enter the numbers just type it with the remote when you are on the ITVX home page.  After entering the code the App should respond by saying “The storage has been cleared”. After this the App will reset and display the privacy & cookies information. Select continue.

I don't know where this goes ( not a clever user with smart phones) with the sky stream puck, the live programs the delay is bad, change over to tresterail and it's perfect, the delay adjustments up to 200ms still not good enough, another puck was sent by sky but the delay hasn't improved. Is there way sky can remedy this. @MGOLDSMITH

Lip sync on Sky Stream seems to be an on-going issue which Sky have been attempting to sort for several weeks.

The advice given is to change the Audio settings on the puck to output PCM Stereo or to try Passthrough. If your puck is connected directly to your TV then it should offer better sync.

If it doesn't then there's not a lot you can do other than put up with it or ask Sky to cancel your contract.

Re: Sky stream , honest review

Many thanks, have tried the pcm settling and so far it does seem to have improved the lip sync, many thanks again ☺️,T.

Re: Sky stream , honest review

I am seriously thinking of ditching sky q in October when my contract finishes. Was initially thinking Freely as we like an EPG. However I don't need a new telly yet! So perhaps Sky stream?

The puck will plug direct into the telly I guess? Will the lip sync thing be a problem? I hate it when they're out of sync I just can't watch it!

The Sky Stream puck connects to the TV via HDMI cable, the same as Sky Q.

If you are sensitive to lip sync then it may not be the system for you. I had Stream for a year but cancelled because I just couldn't get any form of reliable lip sync from the puck. It would vary between apps and live streams and I grew fed up of having to reboot it on a daily basis.

Not everyone has these issues but then again, everyone watches different things and has different sensitivities to a/v sync.

There are other streaming options available these days - the streaming TV market is much wider than the satellite TV market so with a bit of research, and depending on the type of content you watch, you can stream a large variety of content completely free or at minimal cost. Sky Stream offers much of it in a neatly presented form, but with limitations. It can work brilliantly for some and not for others.

Re: Sky stream , honest review

Thank you. Freely would have been fine because we like to scroll a program guide and press select to watch. Public Broadcasters only is fine, I would just add Skysports via NOW. Works out cheaper than adding on to Sky Entertainment package.

With regards to the lip sync issues, Sky are actively working on trying to resolve this so its possible when you come to make the decision in October the sync issues are resolved.

I'd say its worth keeping a eye on the updates that are rolled out to Stream between now and October ( and also any ongoing issues reported on this forum) before making your decision.

Sky announced a raft of features that will be coming out over the next few months here: https://www.skygroup.sky/article/entertainment-os-on-sky-keeps-getting-smarter-thanks-to-clever-new-.... I would imagine this list is the majority of upcomming features but unlikely to be the complete list.

Funnily enough since i switched the sound settings over to Dolby Plus all the lip sync issues are disappeared for me.

There are apps available on other devices (which Sky don't like us mentioning on their forum) which offer an EPG of free-to-air channels and all those available via NOW, with select to watch functionality.

Sky Stream does simplify it all and offers everything in HD or UHD so it does have that benefit, but is obviously more expensive.
