At the store where I bought it they tell me it's the new one

Staff at those stores (Sky, Currys or EE) are mostly clueless. Never trust a salesperson from any company. They wanted the sale. They'll tell you anything you want to hear, be it the truth or otherwise, in order to make that sale.

But I say again, it doesn't matter if it's the new or old puck. It's whether it works or not is the crucial thing.

Staff at a store almost certainly wouldn't know which puck is being dispatched from a warehouse to fulfil an order.

Anyway, it in no way matters which model of a puck you have, there is no discernible difference
