  • To those saying their puk is working reliably, they must have a faulty one!!

Well done Kendoe47. Hope the upper management are as good as their word.

How frustrating for the person's mother-in-law. Another possible easy try for her,  to rewind the program from the remote and then play again. Sometimes it catches up.

Re: Sky puck lip sync issue

Hi, The first fix did not resolve the problems. But the latest fix which was approximately a couple of weeks ago seems to have fixed the lypsync issue. Since the update I certainly have not had any issues. But this is not to say it as been finally resolved only time will tell. But so far all's good.

Re: Sky puck lip sync issue

Anyone out there (especially Sky people) know whether Sky read these posts? Never seen a "technical director" respond. Sky, here's your chance....

@Gento26 If Sky do monitor they certainly seem as if they couldn't care less as long as you pay through the nose for equipment that is not fit for purpose.

Re: Sky puck lip sync issue

I own 2 pucs and only one of these have been giving me terrible lip sync issues particularly on YouTube and Netflix. My set up was, HDMI from pic into the TV then digital audio cable from the TV into my surround soundbar with pass through selected on the pic. This morning on viewing these comments I came to the conclusion that it wasn't the pic it was my setup. My other pic is upstairs, just connecting to the TV via hdmi with no soundbar and works great.

So...

Ive now run the HDMI from the pic into my soundbar with the audio still coming from the TV via the digital cable (one of those with the small round end and infrared lights)  into the soundbar and it now works. I've had YouTube one for about and hour now and no problems yet. Fingers crossed.

Re: Sky puck lip sync issue

Lip sync is still an unsolved issue. A lot of the time the audio is fine, but any time that there is a program or movie that provides two or more sets of audio you can choose between, like a different language or audio description, the audio goes completely out of sync by maybe a second. Moving between the different tracks, or changing audio codecs or restarting the puck doesn't fix it, it's just b*ggered.  Match of the Day on BBC 1 is the easiest example of this to find as it's one of the only BBC programs that has a second audio track that is AD (Audio Description). Would Sky consider putting Sky Q back into the home? This is a disaster.

Couldn't agree more.
On a related but separate issue, I counted 14 seconds today after switching channels "Waiting for your system to load" . I'm already on SKY, just changing channels. I have 125MB Upload speed, 220MB Download. It's absolutely the Puck. They're shocking.

Re: Sky puck lip sync issue

Personally I feel it is compatability issues with certain brands of AV equipment.  I had a seven hundred pounds soundbar (LG) with an LG Oled tv and had the same issues for years.

I gave up and bought a Sky Glass TV (great sound) and have no issues with Lip synchronisation now. Moved the TV to the Kitchen without my expensive soundbar and it's fine with a direct input.

Sadly, the Glass screen resolution and performance is infinitely worse than the TV I've swapped it for.

Before anyone starts, no I can't get Virgin in my area 🥲.

Re: Sky puck lip sync issue

Hi,

I just got a Sky puck and just noticed there were some lip sync issues. I have a soundbar connected by HDMI. I resolved it by going into my sound settings on the TV - expert settings then selecting Pass-through on the digital output audio format option. The input audio will then be sent directly to the reciever without any processing which solved the lip sync problem.

Hopefully this helps someone.

Re: Sky puck lip sync issue

Thanks and good luck

As per the earlier comments I don't have any complications. Pick is straight into the TV.

I've now graduated to 14 seconds to change channels; loss of programmes due to loss of connection....check the connection using Sky system and it says connection "Excellent".

I'm giving up. Now looking at alternative systems and yesterday told Sky I'm leaving after 19 years
