I recently switched to sky stream from sky+ HD. Long story on that and didn't have much of a choice. I called sky about my predicament who suggested that my best option would be Sky Stream. I asked that everything remained the same to what I had before. I was assured it would be. The next day I got everything up and running on stream only to find later that evening I could not watch my sky TV on my Xbox. I phoned them up asking why. I was informed that because I was technically streaming from more than one device I would need sky stream multi room added to my subscription and that my Sky Go extra had been removed along with my old Sky+. Has anyone else had this same issue and problem or had staff not notify them of everything properly before switching to this service?

Sadly you were misinformed.
If you have Sky Stream and wish to use Sky Go on a console you will need the Whole Home subscription which is an extra charge per month.
Were you not offered an upgrade to Sky Q from Sky+?

I couldn't get sky Q because my landlord wouldn't upgrade the communal satellite dish to be able to run it they bear no responsibility for the communal dish at all and don't wish to do so after the developers put it on there. The issue is fixed now. I was just wondering if anyone else didn't have everything like this explained to them properly that's all.

I'm sure there will be some. Not all Sky customer services/sales people are fully up to speed on the differences between the TV services Sky offer. Mistakes happen. If you're unhappy you can always submit a formal complaint.

I would have thought that certain questions would be asked in relation to watching from other devices because its not obvious to everyone that they would need a multi-room subscription if switching to stream. I totally agree that I was completely misinformed. I just needed another way to watch the TV I was paying for after what my landlord had said to me. I knew I could watch it with either glass or stream and it needed doing ASAP because I was aware that Sky+ was being phased out and I wouldnt be able to view certain channels on it as of July 16th due to an article I read anout it on one of the news outlets.

They were very good to me when I did complain and helped me out a bit as well! 😉

You could have bought a second hand Sky+ HD box and continue using the communal dish. Sadly Sky do not recommend this course of action to Sky+ SD users😟
There was no need to switch to Sky Q or Sky Stream🤔

Considering the way everything is going and with the vast majority of people throwing their old Sky+ boxes on the tip I might have had difficulty getting hold of one myself from anyone. This is what the vast majority of people seem to be doing with them.

Sky+ HD boxes are easily obtained online😉

But they are no longer updating the software on the sky+ boxes nor are they providing any kind of support for them either. They are also not manufacturing anymore of the boxes. I also don't see the point in keeping a service where the equipment isn't fully supported or updated anymore. This is probably why so many people are switching to Q stream or glass. I dare say give it a few years and it will most likely be permanently gone in favour of their other services anyway. Best to move now I think. This was also another reason I chose to switch myself.

Yup, the entire satellite platform will likely be ceasing towards the end of the decade.

Until then they will work Sky+ haven't needed updates for sometime🤔
Anyway a second hand Sky+HD boxes would have been an inexpensive solution to retaining channels due to the SD closures😉

Please go onto google and search sky+ HD support end. Click on the GB news article links that will give you all the information you need to know. Nobody can stay using their Sky+ HD service everyone has to switch to something else.
