Re: Paying for ad free

It's not as free, it's ad skipping. It gives you the ability to skip through adverts when watching on-demand content. It isn't available on all on-demand apps though, Netflix etc

@KathReeve1  Ad skipping doesn't remove ads it allows you to fast forward them on catch up content only plus paused live tv up to the point the live broadcast resumes

'Ad free' on broadcast (EPG) service is a logical impossibility because the schedule of every commercial channel is based around each hour of screen time containing around 12 minutes of advertising and 48 minutes of actual content: not having adverts would leave a lot of gaps.

Also, in a genuinely live broadcast the bit after the advert break hasn't happened yet...

Re: Paying for ad free

If it is very important to you to have ad free Sky channel on-demand content try Sky's budget service NOWTV with Boost membership😉

Plus skip the ads with fast forward using the Sky Stream remote for the ITVx, STV, C4 and C5 apps.
Its very welcome and works very easily on Watch from Start, that on stream is available to use on all the linear channels, except for some of those 'teleshopping'  overnight type spells.

Ad skipping is on a 31 day rolling contract and there is often a two month free offer that repeats for many customers, worth looking out for in your MySky app, under Your Products>Manage Home Setup>Ad Skipping

Re: Paying for ad free

Disgrace there is no ad free on demand at least as a paid option. Now TV is certainly better value and viewing experience just sadly missing 4k HDR

Re: Paying for ad free

Does skipping through advert's work on "watch from start" on itv, ch4 & ch5, I mean if the program has been on for 30 mins can you ffw through them?

Re: Paying for ad free

It should do because it'll either trigger a cloud recording playback or send you to the relevant player. We've got as skipping and it's work perfectly well as long as don't expect the moon on a stick

Re: Paying for ad free

Sky need to review this.

Ad skipping should mean no ads on Sky on demand programmes.

The Now Tv Boost should remove ad free.

Stream is supposed to be the premium product and NOW Tv budget, the current status is almost perverse

Re: Paying for ad free

Sky can remove ads on NOWTV becomes they are removing ads from their own content and only a couple of other channels🤔

Perhaps it would be confusing for ad skip to remove ads on Sky content but permit only FFW on other broadcasters content😉

Yes, this is where it gets tricky.

Because Sky Stream is a full TV service, bundling various content types from multiple app sources, it's never going to be able to offer an ultimate ad-free experience without being significantly more expensive. They would have to do a deal which bundled in Netflix Premium, Prime Ad-free, Disney+ Premium, YouTube Premium, ITVX Premium, Channel 4+, etc which is never going to be cheap.

Ads will always exist on the live commercial channel streams anyway - there's no getting away from them. (Unless, like me, you simply don't watch live TV.)

As you say, it's much simpler with NOW because it is predominantly for getting Sky content on demand via a single app. No confusion there, and no ads with Boost.

Re: Paying for ad free

I can see it's tricky but it's already a complicated service for example you was in uhd it don't have ads and if you pay for ITVX and channel 4 the ads are removed, you can already have with sky Netflix with or without ads depending on subscription.

So I don't see it that complicated to have have a sky tv boost that removes ads from on demand sky on demand library stuff from max, sci-fi, history etc. You could still keep ad skip service for fast forwarding live tv.

I personally think sky ad skip should be a basic free feature of any paid for sky package but I feel if they insist on it you could do £4 ad skip £4 ad free on demand for a total of around £8 which is optional. Of course the * being it's for sky own channels on demand as free library. It's not that difficult prime video have ad free for there own content but if I subscribe to there channels it's not necessarily ad free depends what you subscribe to, so it is possible. Not sure why sky are so behind on this fairly expected feature.

Re: Paying for ad free

The problem with *'s is they often are not read ...  which leads to claims of misinformation and even miss-selling🤔
