Sky Stream Options

I am looking to buy sky stream but before I do, please can somebody confirm if I will be able to record programmes, and rewind or pause programmes?

@Ljungberg1  You can not record in the conventional sense you add things to a playlist and watch from there there's pause ff rew features

@Ljungberg1

Stream pucks don't have any local storage (no hard drive) and so there can't be any real Recording: as @SKY1992bf indicates they use a combination of on-demand streaming and server storage.

Also note that this means while RW and FF are available they are implemented in software and can be a little glitchy, and fast-forwarding through adverts requires an additional monthly payment.

Oh, and you don't 'buy Stream': it's a subscription service on loaned hardware.  Any up-front payment is a non-returnable fee, not a purchase price or deposit.

... and never refer to the loan fee as a rental fee😂🤣😂

Re: Sky Stream Options

In straight forward terms, you don't need to record programs as they are already there to chose whenever you want.  In a similar way as you do on streaming apps like Netflix or Disney+.

I should perhaps add that obviously 'live' shows such as sport can only be watched after they start but you can select 'Add Series' before it starts (today is Friday and I have just added a Monday Night match.).

The key difference between recording and playlist is that you only have as long as the broadcasters keep the programs on their chatch up platform to watch via playlist compared to recordings which stay until a user deletes them

Re: Sky Stream Options

Something that did not matter is the past .... with the arrival of streaming and high picture quality ... content creators want great control of their creations🤔

Sales of DVDs and Blurays are declining😉

Re: Sky Stream Options

You do not record like you did on a Q box or a hd box.

You press the red button on the remote and it adds the program to a playlist, you then watch, pause  rewind or forward.

When done if you press red again, it deletes it for you. One objectionable thing is if you are watching and fast forward, it plays from when you stop, but if you stop it and fast forward it keeps showing adverts.

Re: Sky Stream Options

@cliff53  do you pay for ad skipping?

Sky's partners require their ads are seen🤔

It is possible to watch Sky's content ad free on NOWTV😉

@cliff53  Is that a new option?

Is it a permanent free option?

We only had the Advert Skipping option and it was free for only 2 months🤔

Re: Sky Stream Options

If im watching a playlist or a program and pause it, I can go forward or back without

Adverts. If i turn it off then put it on, adverts appear.

Also a BIG BUG BEAR is I tuned to watch a program and it was haf way through, when i pressed play from start, it just kept looping back and playing adverts over and over for about 4 times
