Hi
I'm living in Northern Ireland and looking to switch from Sky Q to Sky Stream. Does Sky Stream still have the RTE One/Two HD Channels? If yes, can you add any of the programmes on the channels to a Playlist?
Thanks in Advance
Barry 🙂

As someone who lives in NI, I can confirm that RTE One and Two are both available in HD on Sky Stream in NI for linear viewing, accessible from the TV Guide/EPG. However, there is no RTE Player app on the platform, and there is also no cloud recording of programmes on these channels, and so although you can add RTE programmes to your playlist from the TV Guide, this is largely decorative as there is no way to watch them back at a later date if you don't catch them live as they are broadcast. Your playlist may instead give you "Play on X" links to those programmes on UK apps (e.g. iPlayer) where they are available there too. So, for example, this will be the case with the final series of The Handmaid's Tale, which has already started to be shown on RTE Two and can be watched on that channel in NI as it airs on Monday evenings, but will only be watchable on catch-up/on-demand in NI via the Channel 4 app when Channel 4 starts broadcasting it next weekend.

Re: Sky Stream Northern Ireland
Hi
I was just checking SkyGo, I rarely use it. It shows RTE One/Two. Does that mean I would get those channels on Sky Stream, or is the SkyGo Channels different from Sky Stream?
Thanks in Advance

Re: Sky Stream Northern Ireland
If the channels are available then I'd be pretty sure programmes could be added to your playlists.

Re: Sky Stream Northern Ireland
Hi @MaDRic
Thanks for your response, much appreciated. Family members watch Home & Away on one of the RTE Channels, I can't remember which one. Do you know or can you check to see if episodes would be add to the Playlist, via one of the apps?
If this wasn't possible, it could mean the difference of switching to Sky Stream if not 😞
Thanks
Barry 🙂

Re: Sky Stream Northern Ireland
Home and Away is shown on Channel 5 in the UK and is available on catch-up via the 5 app in NI. I think the 5 app may be a day ahead of RTE One in terms of episodes..

Re: Sky Stream Northern Ireland
Hi @MaDRic
That's ideal, I'm glad to hear that. Thanks for your answer. You've saved me a trip to the Sky Shop in Belfast. Although I may still visit them, if they can offer a better deal than Sky have given me over the phone.
Do you know the answer to this question. On SkyGo I can record programmes to my Sky Q Box. With Sky Stream, can I add programmes to a Playlist via SkyGo?
Thanks in Advance
Barry 🙂

Re: Sky Stream Northern Ireland
No, Barry, afraid not. SkyGo is a legacy app that only interacts with the older Sky systems (i.e. satellite-based), not with Sky Stream, though you still get access to it with a Stream subscription.
