Thanks. I might take a look at that too.
However, if you set to stream to 'passthrough', and your TV to dolby digital, how is the audio all on the soundbar if the tv isn't set to passthrough too?
Also, if you don't have it set to 'auto' and just dolby digital, will atmos still be picked up?

TV is set to Dolby Digital +, and i dont have a passthrough option. My guess is the button that "activates" Atmos is actually asking the TV to do the decoding. I can only guess this is the case because im still getting Atmos outputted with the button deactivated on the TV.
Its set to passthrough on the stream, Dolby Digital + on the TV and the soundbar was outputting Atmos watching the Liverpool West Ham game last night. The only thing i noticed is that when switching codecs it was holding the video. Weird, as i would have thought that would have needed Earc........

Oh, and ive got CEC turned off at the moment. Might try that later.......

I only had an option for Auto or Passthrough on my TV. Same issue when using passthrough on sky stream though.

I would surmise that if you passthrough on both the TV and Stream you should get the decoding on the soundbar.
Let me know how you get on!

Tried, made no difference as the soundbar still decodes the codec and the quiet 2 seconds during ads are still there.

I wonder if this is a "thing"??? We have different equipment but the same problem

@Nigelb1972 please can you tell me your own personal settings? Thanks

So I plugged sky stream into the tv and ignored the soundbar, turned it off.
Audio dips still happening during adverts so can't be the soundbar.
I also noticed last night during The Bodyguard on C5, that at times when there was shouting, there was a crackling noise! This seems to only be from Sky Stream. I don't get it at all!

Passthrough on everything... I still get a short drop out when during ad breaks but it's only when I'm watching something in Atmos or 5.1 and the ads are in 2.0 but I can live with that as I know it's a thing with eARC...

I had everything on passthrough, but got some crackling during a movie last night every so often. Do you know why?
23 Dec 2023 11:19 AM
@Thevoid I've never experienced any crackling. The only issue I had was Audio dropouts when watching UHD with Atmos on anything other than Netflix. I tracked this down to a bandwidth issue on the HDMI 2.0 eARC cable and it didn't affect Netflix because they run heavy compression. Switching the cable for a HDMI 2.1 cable resolved that issue.
I'm to suggest digging through forums for either your soundbar, TV or even both for known audio issues with Atmos.
For reference we have a Samsung QE55 QLED and Sony HT-G700 soundbar with a Sky Puck on 500mbps Sky Fibre and with the Puck connected by Ethernet.

Audio isn't on Atmos though, it's just standard as it happens when not playing Atmos content

@Thevoid I'm all out of ideas in that case other than, you've either got a faulty, faulty wire or connector or your soundbar just doesn't like the Puck for some reason
