Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Figured it was time to post on this thread as I've been keeping an eye on it a while.

Same as others, I've been experiencing this issue for what feels like a couple of months at this point. Only on the Sky Sports UHD channels. The HD channels and TNT Ultimate work just fine. I've already done a full reset which didn't help much at all.

I find the stuttering/picture issues a little less egregious on the Live Sync channels, there are still issues but I find it a little less distracting which is better than nothing

Adding my voice here as I'm experiencing this issue too. It's nothing to do with broadband speed or quality. 

I'm wired in and on a 500mbps package. 

It probably has something to do with the codec choice. This happens consistently with my older Sony TV but not with my slightly newer LG TV.

I find that when this is going on, the picture doesn't appear to be HDR/HLG even though the Sony TV supports HLG. In my limited experience this kind of judder is associated with software decoding of video on a chip that is barely able to keep up with the computing requirements needed for the video stream. 

I hope your engineers are looking into this and will have an update soon. The HD stream quality is too poor in comparison to be a suitable substitute -- this issue doesn't affect the HD stream.

They can try all they like, but most people have bought decent TV's. The problem exists, it's Sky equipment, so they need to fix it. You wouldn't buy a car that wouldn't start without the garage fixing it first.  So come on Sky, fix the problem. It's yours to fix!

In fairness, having Virgin Media previously, the picture quality with Virgin is far better than the one on Sky Puck. Sky Q was better. Virgin didn't have a stuttering problem with Sky Sports.

Obviously cursed myself ..... Just had it happen in the Sunderland v Leeds on SSMELSUHD 922 Channel. Only for a few seconds but it was there 😞

Possibly... interesting theory @SeagullStew though they tried this in the past and it was nota success and hence why Sky needed to bring the puck out. Customers already had far superior TV's including me and did not go for Glass and completely agree with @Gareth61 . It doesn't make sense Sky doing it again

Bizarre it's working on the Palace game but HD for Leeds 🤷🏻‍♂️ what a pile of 💩 

Roll  on May when I can switch to Virgin

@HOBOHOLT sorry to disappoint you but I came from Virgin Media, dispite Sky's faults it 100 times better and more reliable. I was on the phone to VM every other week to sort out issues.

My heart sank when I found this thread. It's blinking awful isn't it? 

I'm so glad I'm not the only one experiencing this amateur service. I thought Sky were supposed to be the best? 

I don't think we'll be continuing with it. I'm not paying for such a terrible intermittent service. It's been shoddy all over Christmas.

As previously no stuttering or delays this afternoon after rebooting around 1.45. However the picture blurring quite often unless it's just the Palace socks colour mix. I leave LiveScore running just to be sure it reports goals after I see them on screen..

As I recall the blurring took place in the first month or so after SSMELSUHD was first introduced so maybe a recent code change has been reverted?

Stuttering more tonight rather than slowing and speeding up and had a self inflicted reboot just after half time! Anyone else have it at the same time?

I had stutters, the slow and fast picture and pausing as mentioned quite early on but not noticed any more since!

Sorry to disappoint but it's been ongoing for a while now , if it helps just watch sport in Hd for now , it doesn't affect any other UHD channels . Don't be drawn in on Skys suggestions to fix it . Ultimately it comes back after a few days regardless.
