Pause and pick up in another room
Hi All,
We have two Sky Stream pucks and want the ability to pause TV on one of them and un-pause it on the other unit. This is great for when you want to finish watching something in bed. Can Stream do this or do we need to go back to Sky Q or get Virgin instead?
Cheers
Darren

Stream pucks operate independently - you cannot pause on one and unpause on another device. They communicate only with Sky's servers. What is supposed to happen (but doesn't always) is that it will remember where you are in a show and log it on the continue watching rail on the home screen. This, however, doesn't always work and can take a little while to update (due to delays on communication with the server) so the rail may be different on two or more pucks in the same household until the server has refreshed them.
The functionality of Sky Q or Virgin where a hard drive and communication between boxes is common, may better suit your needs.

Re: Pause and pick up in another room
As @Padam_Padam indicates, that functionality exists on Q because the main Q box stores the relevant data and client Mini boxes access it from there. Stream has an entirely different architecture and no such function.

Re: Pause and pick up in another room
Thanks for the replies. Has anyone actually tried ordering or getting at least costs for a Sky Q installation? I've spent the last 20 minutes looking on the Sky.com website both logged in and logged out of my Sky account. It would appear that Sky do NOT want to sell / install new Sky Q installations. Is that true?

If you've already got Stream then you'll need to ring Sky to switch to Q.
