Re: New Sky OS 2.0
@MarkGoldsmith Fair enough I haven't come across that, I would assume that ITV shows will
be able to be cloud recorded when the purchase goes through next year ? Also some on here have said that they have been able to cloud record BBC and CH4 shows (some) - I haven't - have you ?

Re: New Sky OS 2.0
As long as the giant banner ads are gone and I can consistently navigate my channels and apps.
The TV On to last Live TV channel is a dream come true, just like all good old TVs worked. They could add the option to set the default Live TV channel to show on TV On and the last watched channel option.
My Sky Glass needs this.
Also, a Plex media player app would be nice.

Re: New Sky OS 2.0
Hi all,
I can see a big problem with ths OS 2.
Currently there is no record feature and all programmes other than the epg are classed as 'catch-ip' or 'on-demand'.
As I never use the epg or watch live playout channels, I can enjoy sky stream without a tv licence.
However, it seems the new OS gives everyboddy cloud-storage and a record button.
I'm sure they would not have 1000 seperate recordings of an emmerdale episode, one for each user who 'recoreded' it.
Surely this record feture will just be a pointer to one copy of the programme on sky servers?
Otherwise, if sky are actually making a dedicated recording per individual, then a tv licence would be required.

@billx On OS 2 there is a record option I would suggest reading this https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-os-trial?customer_view=true

Re: New Sky OS 2.0
HI, yes the article says REcord in inverted commas, as if it is not actually recored.
There is nothing that details where this recording will be sourced from.
A cloudbusters article suggets subs will be given cloud storage, in which case it would be a recording.
The way sky streamed peak-time-vieiwng programmes like The Rookie in a graveyard timeslot before the peak-time playout, meaning one could sit down at peak time, but watch the 2am showing as a 'catch-up' not live playout and the stream only news programme & individual news articles as stream only, was sky heading towards making their platform tv licence free.
However, now with this new OS stating Recording, could be an arguement for the bbc to say that us sky subs are actually recording streamed content from the live-playout time and not viewing via catchup.

Re: New Sky OS 2.0
@billx Stream has always cloud recorded. It's just never been all that clear which items were recorded. So you've probably already watched recorded content.

I suspect that's the kind of ambiguity on which, if it came to it, a court would have to adjudicate.
Realistically the wording of the licencing legislation is inadequate for modern technology.

Re: New Sky OS 2.0
Why is a PIN now needed for watching programmes such as Danny Dyers caravan park on sky one at 8pm. I never had to use a pin for programmes previously on the original OS?
