Re: New Sky OS 2.0

Is there any or many publicly available photos or videos of the new software.

how close to Q is this?

what features from the HD & Q boxes does it have are there any advantages other than box speed on Stream/Glass.
what in it's software is better.

Sky Go for Q allows local download

does the Stream/Glass one allow it.

this should be a box feature too.

should have just put Sky OS in a modified Apple TV with 2TB local storage & 2TB cloud DVR

also I have a feeling that ITV will play nice

but not BBC & 4,

not sure on 5

This thread is for reporting bugs around the new software update that people are trialling. It's not for asking the questions that you have asked. @seandrews

The Stream puck has had a digital terrestrial tuner and aerial socket from launch in October 2021: it just isn't enabled in the UK.

We're guessing it's there because this is a regulatory requirement for set top boxes in Italy (the Sky Italia main Q box also had a DTTV tuner)

Given smart televisions typically come with such hardware too, it's not exactly taxing to have an aerial plugged into there instead.

Re: New Sky OS 2.0

I cannot seem to cloud record ITV content, nor from Channels 4 and 5... but I thought I had the option to earlier in the beta? Can anyone confirm?

Especially now that ITV is owned by Comcast, I'd figure cloud recording with Sky was non-negotiable for them.

Not until regulatory approval is granted.

A media  merger on that scale (particularly when it involves overseas ownership of a PSB) gets Ofcom and CMA scrutiny: it won't be finalised until summer 2027 at the earliest.

It was enabled on the pucks for a short while in error so as @TimmyBGood  states there is a aerial input but in the UK & Ireland it's isn't enabled and presumably is in other markets due to regulatory reasons.

should have just put Sky OS in a modified Apple TV with 2TB local storage & 2TB cloud DVR  They can't just slap on another providers device, theye will be licencing issues if they mofified an apple product, also they have Sky Go for that.

Re: New Sky Glass/Stream OS Watchlist and Continue Watching

Agree that it is terrible way to change watchlists, a step backwards

Re: New Sky OS 2.0

Anyone else who signed up to the trial still not been updated? I accepted my invitation on the My Sky app and from my TV home screen at the beginning of September and got the confirmation email but still nothing on my Sky Glass Gen 2 or Sky Glass Air.

Maybe add in an aerial input plus a couple of satellite inputs for backup and a 2Tb SSD to download these recordings to and I will hand over my Sky Q Box immediately.  Sky Q is the box for satellite is that is important to you, no point having both in one box

but until I can watch Live and/or Recorded content even with zero internet then I will have to wait till it's no option.  It's a streaming service and I doubt the likes of Netflix will want people to be able to download their content and archive it.

Some ITV content is/has beencloud recordable.

Until this season the many hour live BTTC was (it sat in old playlist and played out in stream player, not ITVx) but is now available for this season live and on demand via ITVx, so only available as a watchlist add.
Some other sport has been cloud recorded on ITV over the last few years.

Not aware of other programme types, but then ITVx provides it all via ITVx.

Yes, as in this thread C4 did have some programmes avaialble to be cloud recorded.

Some films on Film4 can be cloud recorded. example of one I still have in my Recordings below during this trial.

C5 is a mixed bag.

A lot of the output, including the films on the 5USA, 5Star and 5Action channels can be cloud recorded.

The main 5 channel often has cloud recording.

I record quite a number of series from 5, one being Matt Allwright;

I used to have Columbo added in my playlist and noticed there were loads of recordings of it when I moved to Sky OS 2.

It has since been recording daily all the Columbo across the 5 channels.

Just found another C4 recordable programme.

Will have to wait till Sunday to see.

Perhaps it's a metadata glitch or something for the future on the channel...

Re: New Sky OS 2.0

I'm hoping they'll have playlists continuing like they do too once finalised. We use them to categorise series, films and then a "watched" playlist. We move things to the "watched" playlist once we've finished, or if we gave up and abandonned!

No one is getting any younger (failing memory!) and nothing more annoying that starting to watch a "new" drama only to realise that 20 minutes in, you've already seen it 😆

Please revert back to the easy switching - and therefore easy tagging a show into a different playlist EASILY
