Hi we are looking at upgrading our sky Q for the new sky stream, I can't find anywhere online on the sky web site where you can upgrade without having to buy sky glass, we want to look at removing our dish and going fully to sky stream with 6 pucks as we have all new TV's already, I assume you don't get a new box like sky Q was as well, any ideas as I can't seem to find anything on the sky web without upgrading to sky glass

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Raymond63589 You need to be aware it is not an upgrade, it is a different system entirely to Sky Q. Make sure your broadband is sufficient to run 6 pucks, min required for HD is around 5 - 6 mbps for each puck & at least 15 mbps for UHD per puck.
You'll need to call Sky to order stream.
You can call on 150 from a Sky Talk Line or Sky Mobile.
If you haven't got a current Sky Mobile or Sky Talk this link should help:
(UK) https://www.sky.com/help/home Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number
(ROI) on the same link change the flag in the very bottom corner to the ROI flag to obtain an 0818 number.
Stay on the line and don’t hang up if prompted to. Apparently the quieter times to ring are just after 7am or about 9pm.

As @GD1 points out - Sky Stream is a completely different type of service to Sky Q so please make sure you know how it works and that you have the broadband infrastructure in place to make sure it will work for you.
Assuming you have a large house with 6 TVs in different parts of it, you'll need 6 individual Stream pucks attached to each TV via HDMI in order to receive the service. Each room will need to have access to fast and stable broadband to maintain access to streamed content. Stream pucks can be sensitive to fluctuations in WiFi connectivity so are therefore recommended to be connected directly to your network via ethernet cable, particularly for UHD content.
Remember too that Sky Stream does not record programmes in the same sense as Sky Q. It relies to a large part on third party apps from all the broadcasters available on the platform. Once they upload their content to their streaming app you will have access to it. Content from Sky channels can sometimes be cloud recorded for playback later but this can be somewhat random, particularly when it comes to sport. Most Sky Original content and Sky Cinema content is available to stream on demand with the appropriate subscription.
A lot depends on how you watch TV. Sky Stream works well for some people and not at all for others. If you've been used to recording lots of programmes on Sky Q to watch back at your leisure, whenever you want, then Stream may be a bit of a shock.

Please do your research carefully as Sky Glass or Stream is not the right choice for everyone. Can I suggest you use the search box at the top of this page and search " Sky Q to Sky Stream" as this will point you in the direction of a number of forum threads which may be of interest and help you in your research.
Personally I like Glass/Stream and wouldn't go back to Sky Q. It's not perfect but is improving all the time.

Hi,
Yea I was aware that it's a new system, we have bt's full fibre so wired connection is around 900 mbs, so wouldn't think that would be an issue as we would have them wired as well, think the main reason is to reduce our cost of the bill as it's over £115 a month, & we only get to use 1 main box plus 2 minis at one time, we hardly use the movies anyore and only watch live sport ect and TV and most of the programs dad watches are downloaded to box so we don't think Q is worth the price anymore and think the new stream puck service may be better for us and cheeper and also have it in all the rooms, most of the rooms have 65inch or 43 in TV's in the rooms, will definitely look a bit more like you all say and let everyone know
Cheers for the advice

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Raymond63589 having full fibre is only part of the question just as important is the speed and stability of the wifi signal at the location of each puck. If you rely on a single BT hub you may well find that isn't up to the task

He literally just said he was wiring them in... 🙄

Hi I noticed that currently it does not seem to be possible to upgrade from SkyQ to Sky Stream. you seemt to be presented with an image explaining you already "enjoy the best experience", and does not allow you to actually upgrade to stream.
I complained about this to the CEO of Sky and received several respoinses from an "executive response group" which did not seem to grasp what I was saying, advising me to click here and there onthe website but clearly that had not actually readwhat I'd said!!!!
Eventualy I received a reply after about 8 emails including some screen grabs and a video I recorded of my "customer journey" [ending in a dead end] agreeing to invstigate the issue.
Let's see what happens!!

That's to stop customers from wildly changing (not upgrading) from Q to Stream in the belief that they are getting something better.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIt also used to be the case (and still maybe the case) that the link would not work if you were within a q contract as input was required from a sky agent to "swap" from one contract to another.

I made the change from Q to Stream in April just gone - called up, 10-15 mins later it was done and the Stream device arrived the next day 👍
