Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

Nothing wrong with the supplied Sky cables. HDMI cables either work or they don't. The signs of a faulty cable is continuous drop outs of either video or audio, sparkles or white spots on the image, usually seen in the black bars on the top and bottom of wide screen presentations. Any of those and I would recommend changing the cable. Amazon basics is all you need. Don't fall for the snake oil speak with expensive cables.

Brought a quality make in Anker and it was only about £10.

HDMI cables are binary they carry zeros and ones. Generally there is no difference between cheap hdmi cables and expensive ones.

@Jason+Golding No harm though but I guess the issue is still for Sky to sort, have the reason for the extension of the contract for satellite dishes

My one didn't pass through HDR content, swapped it out for a non-Sky one, WALLOP - was able to enjoy HDR/DV content.

As I said they either work 100% or they simply don't. I've just connected the ones I had in place to my AVR when I've bought new kit or had a new streaming box. One that had worked perfectly for a number of years started to have stuttering on the image which was on my Denon blu ray player, non 4K, and the spare Sky cable did, and is still doing, the job perfectly well now.

My experience was it worked 100% with HD content and not at all with HDR/DV content. I'm not a numbers person and for me, for it  to  be 100% or simply not; I'd expect it to work with HD content & HDR/DV or nothing at all. Either way, you don't need to be spending much for a passive HDMI cable - I think mine was less than £9.

The Sky supplied cable is tucked away ready to be returned with the Puck as & when that time comes.

Voices are not synchronising

I have sky glass and I've been having problems with my second tv that is connected via the Puc. The problem is a lack of synchronisation with people speaking not keeping pace with what's on the screen. I've tried rebooting everything but the problems persist. I have to keep turning the tv off and restarting it to get everything synched. It was fine until we had all the problems a few weeks ago. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

The recommended temporary solution that you can make is to  change your audio settings to PCM or Passthrough, in the puck settings.

But there are significant differences between 1.4, 2.0, and 2.1 cables😉

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

When are we going to get a concrete update from Sky, this is still being referred to as a 'Temporary Issue'. However, there is no clear resolution in sight, other than to turn off sound quality... and Sky aren't sharing any progress.

Please can somebody from Sky share when the next round of 'fixes' are going live and what sort of timeline we're looking at to have full functionality?!

Would you recommend upgrading all HDMI cables to 2.1 or is that overkill?

@koopie

If you're looking to take advantage of HDR content, either of the below should be fine:

Premium High Speed HDMI -  up to 4K resolution with high dynamic range (HDR) at up to a 60Hz refresh rate
Ultra High Speed HDMI -  up to 10K resolution with HDR at up to a 120Hz refresh rate

If you have source equipment connected that doesn't support HDR (or the higher res and/or refresh rates) and it's working fine - no need to change the cables. If you're planning on upgrading that equipment, future proofing shouldn't hurt.
