Just ordered sky stream

Ordered sky stream because we now have super fast broadband and we were with Q, stream is a third of the price we were paying with sky signature. Checked the order which is due sometime today but it includes the puck, which I've paid for and also ad skipping and sky live pack which I know nothing about, I hope this isn't going to cost more because it wasn't mentioned when I ordered stream and I've no idea what it is. Can anyone help please.

@Gardeninggrannie if you have ordered Sky Stream, you can't have ordered Sky Live with it, as Sky Live is a camera accessory that only works on the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Glass TVs.

If you have Sky Stream, you  will not be able use the Sky live camera or Sky live pack. That is only for use with a Sky Glass TV.

Unless you have also ordered a Sky Glass TV as well as a puck.

Not sure why that is appearing on your order, if you only have Sky Stream. Are you sure that is what is listed on your order?

Re: Just ordered sky stream

Also if you have ad skipping that is an additional charge.  I wouldn't worry too much as you have 30 days to make ant changes or cancel if you want to, likewise there are things you can add if you want.

Re: Just ordered sky stream

Hi thank you all for your replies. The puck has now come and it's all connected, no live equipment delivered. Checked my orders again and it's not showing now so presumably added by mistake. I removed the ad skipping as soon as the account was activated, been charged £1.20 for it. When we ordered stream the agent (Indian accent and difficult to understand) assured me we would get the same channels as we had with Q, that's obviously wrong, I should have checked on line and not relied on what I was told. I said we watched sky history and discovery a lot but we've found out these aren't included.

phoned sky again asking if we could upgrade to ultimate but he couldn't give me a price, he's phoning back Monday morning.

It seems ok , good picture, relatively easy channel guide, so we'll see what happens.

Really don't see why new customers get a cheaper deal, been with sky for years, they call their sales department loyalty now, but loyalty to who escapes me!

Thanks again for all your replies, need to put my feet up with a cup of tea after all this!😊

Sounds good, enjoy.

Any further questions, come back here.

One thing, you may find after your cancellationan for ad skipping has completed, in MySky app or your MySky account online under Your products you may see an offer for ad skipping free for two months.

Go for it and anytime during the second month, cancel it, it will continue to the end of the second month.

A day or say later, when it's been cancelled, you may see the same offer again.

Pretty sure Sky History and Discovery+ Basic should be available on your package. As far as I recall, Ultimate just adds Netflix.

On Sky Stream/Glass,  Netflix (with ads tier)  is offered free with  both the Sky Essential TV pack and the Ultimate TV pack.

Sky History is one of a number of channels only in the Ultimate TV pack.

Discovery + is an app that Sky offer the basic tier free on all Sky packs, but needs activating by the customer as described here;

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-marketplace-subscribe-to-discovery-plus

The list of channels  for each of the Essential TV and Ultimate TV packs on Sky Stream/Glass are shown here ( the packs are different from those on Sky Q);

'Essential TV' doesn't include any of the subscription Sky-branded channels apart from Atlantic.

It does have the FTA Sky Arts, Mix, Sports Mix and Sports News .

This is presumably more to leverage upgrades than an actual cost saving to Sky....

Re: Just ordered sky stream

Thank you everyone for your advice. I have cancelled ad skipping, it stops tomorrow apparently. The agent from sky did phone back on Monday and we now have ultimate, bit more expensive but still half the price of our Q contract.

we are quite happy with stream, easy to use, good picture. It did drop signal tonight briefly tonight, no Wi-Fi connection message came up but not for long. We're connected on Wi-Fi because the router is the other end of the living room, over 20ft away and a cable would be more difficult.
overall though it's good.

thanks again to everyone for your help, it's good to know we dinosaurs can get advice on 21st century stuff 😂
