@MalcolmS  Getting rid of unwanted programmes from the CW rail is my biggest issue with the streaming platform.  As mentioned by @MarkGoldsmith you cannot simple delete them but there are ways of getting rid of them.  I last posted the following a few months ago so I have reproduced it again as it does help (most of the time).

The most common method which generally works with Sky, Discovery, ITVX  and Disney is to select the programme from the CW rail and fast forward it to the end.  If it is a series then also run the last episode of the series to the end otherwise the next episode will appear in the CW rail.

Depending on the App you watched from there are so many different ways to remove programmes from CW. Some you have to do on your TV and others on your Laptop etc.  I made myself a list to help me remember in the future. Hopefully this will help you as well:

Do on Glass TV:

Apple TV - select from Up Next list with a LONG press / remove

Netflix - Select from CW / remove from CW on next page

Sky, Discovery, ITVX & Disney - run programme to credits and allow to run to the end.  If a series do the same with the final episode of the series.  (It may take a while to disappear)

My5 - Go to settings and select Clear Watch History

Do on laptop:

BBC iPlayer  - CW / Manage full list (on right of screen) / remove

Ch4 / CW - go to My4 > / edit / select then remove

Paramount - Hover over programme and untick

Prime - Go to CW rail and hover over programme for another menu select 3 dots & then hide (you can’t actually  delete)

Sometimes it can take a while for the programme to disappear and on other occasions they stubbornly remain. It's a bit of a lottery.

If you are simply stuck with it on the rail it will slowly make its way to the end of the rail and then drop off but this can take weeks.  You can "force" it along by selecting programmes to the right of it and watching a few seconds of each programme (this is what I tend to do).

Good luck, I hope this helps.

You can't delete content from the continue watching rail.

You either need to wait for it to fall off the end of the rail when you have too many items, wait for the show to be removed from the catch app up you have been watching it on or fast forward through the episodes so it detects you have no more episodes of that show to watch.

Everyone has their own methods none of which are user friendly. When is Sky's technical Dept going to do something about it. A great viewing platform that is, judging by the numbers of people raising the issue, spoiled by something they can resolve, simply. Do something Sky! Unless of course you don't bother to read any of these meaningless discussions.

Its likely that it hasn't been implemented yet because its not quite as simple a solution technically to implement.

Can it really be that difficult? It's a simple 'remove' command.  I know 7 year olds who could probably write a bit of code to do it in five minutes.

I very much doubt its that simple otherwise it would have been sorted by now. There is likely to be something with the fundamental technical architecture of the system and the way it has to interact with all these third party apps that means this isn't as simple as just adding a delete button.

 to the UI.

It doesn't need to interact with the third party apps. It just needs to remove a simple listing from the Continue Watching rail. It should be a simple procedure. It's no different to the Apple tvOS where you can simply do a long press on a show in the Up Next rail to remove it. It doesn't interact with the third party apps and also doesn't need to.
It's all about keeping the hardware's OS simple & tidy, be it Entertainment OS or tvOS. Right now, Sky's is just a bit messy and it doesn't need to be.

@Padam_Padam Without doubt the ATV up next rail is far superior to the Sky CW rail.  I have recently taken to using Sky to identify the programmes I want to watch and then adding them to my playlist for reference.  If they are on Apps and not Sky channels I tend to watch them on my ATV purely so I can remove them from up next if I decide I don't want to continue watching the series.

Whether or not the inclusion of a remove option is easy or hard isn't my issue I just wish they would find a way of including one after all they have had well over 2 years to do it 🤞

Re: Is the problem with cancelling a programme in "Continue watching" been sorted yet?

I'm still having issues with this feature. Always an STV player issue.

Watched the Douglas is cancelled show, fully watched the last episode to clear it and it just simply won't go away. ( multiple attempts at clearingn)

All other shows via apple, sky and paramount all clear with the methods already mentioned, but not the STV player shows. It's very annoying.
