Re: Is it time for Sky puck V2

Apart from the P+ app 'adverts sticking' issues we were all suffering a few weeks back. All fixed now.

My Sky Stream has behaved fine, with no issues at all recently.

Mind, apart from the one day last year we all had with the 'downtime on Sky Stream and Glass', not really had any issues with my two Sky Stream pucks, that I have had since Feb 2024.

Not seeing any point in a Sky puck v2 at the moment, it works fine with all that is thrown at it from the apps or live TV.

The Sky Stream and Sky Glass software will still get regular updates bringing some new features and fixing any issues for those that suffer them, mainly driven from the many ISP broadband and mesh connections, along with the vast array of kit it has to work and connect with.

Re: Is it time for Sky puck V2

If I was a betting man, my guesstimate for the next version of Sky stream box would be 2028 at the earliest, and with this I expect small incremental hardware changes. Sky can do lots to improve the hardware with ongoing software upgrades through Sky OS.

Look at 2 Gen Sky Glass - hardly any worthwhile hardware inorovents, after 3 years of Sky Glass, Sky hardware products are now high volume, Low cost and build to lowest tech spec to be able to do, what Sky what them to do.

Anyone expecting an Apple TV style box, that has the processing power of a IPhone or Mac, is going to be very disappointed, especially at a time when sky (Comcast) are making redundancies and effiency savings.

it is however possible that sky launch a Sky Stream app on all 3rd party partners software, negating the need for a box, like they have done with Now Tv.

Maybe then Sky should reduce prices until everything is fixed. They are selling a product that is not functioning the way it should

Sky won't offer an across the board reduction, as we've discussed before. Why would they, when for the majority it's functioning ok? It's up to individuals to see what they can negotiate - which would most likely be dependent on the history of issues they've reported over time.

Re: Is it time for Sky puck V2

I don't think is the case looking at plenty of comments on the community but again I agree to disagree. The sooner Sky sort the issues the sooner we all will be happy and we get a fully functional system

I am sure we will get there eventually. It's a great product and worth persevering

Not sure what could be added to improve  the puck, as I  have  already  said  I  got my puck for free along with  my 55inch gen 1 tv back in november  2021  and I  have  never  had  any  problems  with  it, I  do thought  think it should  be covered by sky protect  insurance, bit it's  not

As I said it is just what different people prefer, but I should respectfully point out it is not us that has the issue we are happy with the way it is, it is @larky+marky that has the issue.

I agree, it doesn't bother me with it going straight to the home page however maybe they could put an option in the settings so that it goes straight to the last channel as well, at least that way it gives people the choice.

This is the same as the tv, that when you turn it on comes on with the home page, just like a p,c laptop or tablet, you don't  turn 1 of those on and it top show the last paper that you were working or viewing so why, would it be with  the puck or sky glass tv it's  over the Internet, not a satellite dish or aerial it goes to a home page, if you  want  to be able  to go and watch the last channel  you  were watching  then you need a different  smart tv, that main, reception  is through  a tv aerial,  on satellite dish  and the Internet  second

Also I  have just checked and the apple  tv also opens  up on a home page and not on the last channel or app that was being watched, i  remember  having  a tv card in my p, c and watching channels and  programs, back in the day of daily up Internet, at night  a penny a minute and that was turn the computer  on  and the open  the tv card and connect and that was back in the 90's  so if when you turn the puck, sky glass  tv off if it could be done that when you turn  it back on to the last channel  you were watching  i  am sure it would have been done by now guys

It's gone through several variations over the years, progressing from HD to 4K, larger internal storage, faster processors & more HDR formats.
The current top spec model has 128Gb of internal storage for apps & games, Gigabit ethernet & HLG, HDR10, HDR10+ & Dolby Vision compatibility.
The Siri voice remote has a touchpad as well as clickable buttons.
The tvOS running on the box is very customisable and you have full control over which apps you want to install, whether you want frame rate and dynamic range matching, as well as various other audio & video calibration tools.

You can pair an iPhone to the box too and use the camera & mic on it to have zoom video calls.
It's a very versatile and fast bit of kit.
