For me personally, Sky Stream works quite well. Yes there are a couple of niggles with the continue tab but all in all, it's good and on the plus side, the picture quality seems better.

That's my experience too. Other than the Continue Watching rail, my only gripes are that it occasionally drops back to HD from UHD, and less frequently, refuses to start requiring a power off/on cycle.

Interesting observations and feedback.

I did not know Virgin offered a streaming service but based on your feedback I wont bother looking, as the UI is very important to me.

These things are always personal and we all have our own wants, likes and dislikes, but personally I just cannot get on with the Sky UI, it just seems to be inconsistent, I much prefer the Apple TV experience and we watch almost everything via that, about the only thing we watch through the Sky puck is anything  with adverts, as it is the only platform that allows (charges me for) skipping through the adverts.

My biggest issue with Sky still being the fact it cannot track what I have been watching on all devices and rember were I am up to, I feel sure the App on the iP{ad used ot be able to do this fine with Sky Q and Apple TV rememebrs over all my devices, very basic capabilities I woudl have thought.

Update. I swapped the two pucks and we had an uninterrupted evenings viewing. If this continues then I will request a new puck for the second one.

Fingers crossed got continued performance.
