There are no such things are "recordings" per se with the sky streaming platform. Some shows/filmes do get "recorded" and stored on Sky's cloud servers for a limited time, but for the majority of shows/films recordings don't happen and your playlist will link you to the on-demand service where the film is available.
For the shows/movies that can be recorded, any film split into 2 parts by the broadcaster, unfortunately will have this issue where only one part gets a "cloud recording" made. This has been a bug for years and doesn't seem likely it will get fixed. I believe the way broadcasters split the films in 2 parts so they can have more ad breaks is essentially incompatiable with the way the streaming service works, where its expected a film to be one programme and but me made up on parts or episodes.

We have the same issue nearly a year later with Sky Stream, we record a film on a free channel and it wants to charge for the playback from Sky Cinema. Surely this should be corrected by now? Regards Anne
There isn't anything to correct - legally Sky can't just make a cloud recording of any film on any channel they have to legally be able to do it.
what you should check is if the film is available on the broadcasters on-demand service. Open the film on your playlist and scroll down to available now where it will display a "play on" button for each service the film is available on.

Then for that particular showing it's not an item which Sky has redistribution rights for. It's the broadcast channel which is the distributor and licences on-demand access (or not) : Sky in this context is a platform.

We pay for a BBC License, so we can watch and record BBC programs and films...so King Richard was not a Sky Cinema selection it was a documentary about Tenis and Serena and Venus Williams, with Richard Williams.
A Sky Cinama film was not selected here (King Richard), it was a BBC2 documentary King Richard. Why did Sky Steam let me down, I have never had an issue recording BBC before Sky Stream?

Sky can't cloud record any BBC content. The BBC don't allow it instead all BBC shows are linked to IPlayer so if the show isn't available on IPlayer it won't be available to watch unless it's being watched "live" as it's broadcast.

Clearly I have been able to record the selected program for 25 years, on the correct channel too.
Are you saying that Sky Stream cannot wait for the program selected to become available on the iPlayer?
Not recording the correct program on the correct channel is poor compared with older systems. Please correct this issue.
Thanks

Thats on a local hard disk, streaming platforms don't have that

The BBC won't allow Sky to take any cloud recordings of their content ( similar to how on Sky Go when out of the house you can't stream BBC channels). The BBC want people to be using IPlayer, likely because they need the numbers to be able to justify the license fee and to see how the license fee should be spend by looking at viewing figures for all content. So simply put, any playlisted BBC show will link to the show in iplayer.

There is nothing to correct, streaming platforms operate in a completely different way to the traditional satelliete broadcasting platform.. This is how a streaming platform operates and streaming platforms are the future of broadcast TV, which the satelliete broadcasting platform expected to be retired at the end of this decade. The broadcasters and production companies have learnt that the way for them to make money in the modern TV industry is to prevent people from taking recordings and being able to rewatch shows whenever they want and instead ensure that people stay subscribed to their on-demand offering, or in the case of some of the free on-demand apps ensure people use the app so they can get money from advertisers.

You are trying to justify recording the wrong program on and also the wrong channel. There is no justifying that as I was allowed to select the record button for that program, so it was a valid and permissible action.
If you want to change in the future you need to up your game somewhat, you are allowing recording actions you cannot fulfill and also not recording films from the correct channel, why would I want that if I do not subscribe to Disney+ or other...
The BT streaming system I used previously did not have these issues.
Please correct, thanks.

The information provided is completely correct and we as customers can't correct anything because there is nothing to correct as it's the way the platform is designed to work

It would be nice if Sky support picked up these issues.

Actually BT, (now EETV), will not let you record BBC on their streaming platform, it now leaves a marker which takes you to iplayer. Plus with all ITV channels, you can record, but you're now unable to fast forward through the ad breaks. This is the future of streaming. Honestly if it bugs you that much you're better off staying with Sky Q.

I don't believe there's anything reported in this thread for Sky to pick up. It's working as required.
