Glass and Stream together

Hi. I'm considering changing my system from Sky Q to either Sky Glass and/or Sky Stream.
My question is, can I have Sky Glass in my house and a Sky Stream puck in an outbuilding (with broadband), all under one contract, or do I have to pay for 2 separate systems?

Thanks

Short answer is yes, the stream pucks can be used either with Glass or on their own.

Hi @Ian196

Yes that's not a problem, they both have to be on the same internet connection and you'll need the whole home addon at £12pm.

Thanks,

Tim

That's good to know, thanks guys.

So if I bin Sky Q, I assume I can still access prior purchased movies etc?

Yes anything purchased via Sky Store / Buy&Keep will be in the Sky Store app on Glass / Stream.

Re: Glass and Stream together

Thanks again for your responses.
In general, is Glass/Stream recommended?

I have had years of connectivity issues with Q despite having 1Gb broadband.

Time for change.

@Ian196  I personally would buy your own new TV, and get 2 stream pucks instead.  I would also recommend using ethernet cable between the pucks & your router as wifi connections can be problematic.

Re: Glass and Stream together

@GD1   If I added Dolby Atmos to my package, does a separately purchased TV need to support this?

No. The puck attached to a non-Atmos capable TV can still output stereo PCM or plain Dolby Digital.

Maybe keep in mind that while 'connectivity issues' are annoying in Q, they will prevent Glass/Stream working entirely.

Re: Glass and Stream together

@TimmyBGood   Understood. My issues were due to the distance between Q and mini boxes from each other and my router. The puck/Glass would be right next to my router and probably connected via Ethernet.
Thanks

@Ian196  I had nonstop issues with Q networking.  It never worked for me, but by buying a mesh network and using hardwiring to the Ethernet ports on the mesh points, my Q installation was transformed.

With Glass/Stream, originally the same setup was required for me, however  after a number of F/w updates to Glass, I've since reverted all devices to Wi-Fi which, in my environment, works very well.

BTW, am not saying Wi-Fi will work for everyone, it doesn't and varies dramatically by house for various reasons, but it works well for me these days.

Re: Glass and Stream together

@Joe-Bow   I tried every configuration possible over 7 yrs and eventually found one that was relatively stable.
I intend Ethernet between Glass/puck and BB hub in house which will be next to each other. I have a bridge connection to a router in the out building which is stable and provides a few hundred Mbs download. So I'll firstly try Wi-Fi to puck. Otherwise a 2 metre Ethernet will be required.

Thanks
