@splatto Sky Ultimate is the same for Sky Q or Sky Stream - the issue I have is that Sky Essential (the lowest tier tv package) now includes Netflix, whereas Sky Signature (apparently the older name equivalent to Sky Essential and only available to existing Sky Q customers) doesn't include Netflix.

They aren't the same thing at all.

Sky Essential (on Stream) gives you just Freeview channels plus Sky Atlantic and Netflix.

Sky Signature (on Q) gives you the full range of subscription Entertainment channels but no Netflix.

@groupcaptain I have had a quick read of the thread you linked to and given one of the Community Managers is involved it is pointless for me to get involved. It can be difficult to zero in on the cause of issues especially if the Sky team cannot replicate them on their kit. While the two issues could be connected it would be pretty odd networking issue which would cause image issues but as you point out the coincidental start point seems to point to a connection with that release The forum is often used to pin down faults as we often pick up issues before the cs phone lines do.

My own Glass and 3 pucks all use WiFi without issue but I have a very stable network using a 3 unit third party WiFi system which replaced the Q hot spots when I switched to Glass/Stream. I have experimented with Ethernet in the past but found no gain.

Hopefully this gets sorted soon.

Re: Considering switching to Stream. Experiences?

@Chrisee Thanks for your response. My switching off the WIFI (when the enternet was connected) on the Glass was done when the problems were present. I'm going to try to switch off the WIFI on all 3 Sky devices now and see what happens tomorrow when the Glass is taken out of standby as that recently has been when the issue surfaces and does not go away until after many resets and/or mains power disconnects - I'm not sure of the difference in reality between one and the other as far as the device is concerned.

Thanks again.

Re: Considering switching to Stream. Experiences?

I've been watching sport in UHD etc... which works no problem , sometimes I have to restart the box but only every so often , but I'm happy with it . And if there are more major problems then it's Sky Servers as that is what it streams from . I preferred digital satellite to completely avoid any minor bugs but it is the way forward and there's no stopping that fact .

@TimmyBGood Thanks again for that - I wasn't aware. Just checked and we actually have the standard Sky Broadband Hub which was replaced last year.

Re: Considering switching to Stream. Experiences?

The problem switching to Sky Stream as an existing customer will be the price increase.

Every package is more expensive, particularly Muli Room at £15 per room.

Joining as a new customer is completely different with amazing offers which are not available to  us existing customers. I want to switch but would end up paying about £12 a month more, plus another £6 if you want to skip adverts. On Sky Q you can just fast forward past the adverts on recorded programs.

You need to check it out

Multi room is once per account, not per room/device

Re: Considering switching to Stream. Experiences?

I only switched from Q to Stream back in November when the Q hard drive failed. I wanted to replace the Q drive but they offered me greater discounts than I was on with Q, including Whole Home at £12. I've also since been able to cancel the Netflix boost which was under contract with Q but not Stream. I have a Glass TV and a Stream puck and after the April price rise will be paying £9.49 less than I was when I had Q back in November.

I guess my point is that switching to stream isn't necessarily costly. 🙂📺

Re: Considering switching to Stream. Experiences?

Hi, as Sky Q users we often record live sport to watch either later of the following day. Could someone confirm that on Sky stream we can continue to do that using the play list function? If not how do you do it? Thanks

Yes, but it's not necessarily as reliable as capturing a broadcast signal to a local hard drive, plus there's a greater risk of exposure to results being revealed in advance of viewing.

Almost the same basically add a program to playlist and then it will be available to watch shortly after but could be removed at any time once the program expires on demand for example it might be available on demand for 30 days after that it is removed

@Dallen116 although some material is removed after a month the vast majority of Sky's programming stays far longer as do most other broadcasters. In practice after using the system since launch it is very rare we cannot watch what we want. The one odd ball iwas movies on the terrestrial channels who used to only buy broadcast rights but even that is getting better with both BBC and ITV having movies within their catch-ip apps.
