Connecting second TV
Hi
I've recently changed provider from VM to Sky. Before I had VM I ran an Aerial cable from my Living room to the Dining room so I could watch in both rooms. With VM the same cable was used by the fitter so I could still watch in the Dining room. Now I have Sky I'm struggling to make it work. Remember I only want to watch the news on the BBC while I have my breakfast, nothing else. Is it possible to do this and if so how?

Re: Connecting second TV
@JimH5 if you had Sky before moving to Virgin, you were probably using a Sky+ box's RF output, which allows a second TV to be connected via the TV's aerial socket.
Sky's current TV boxes don't have an RF output, so you would need a different solution, depending on which TV service you have.

Re: Connecting second TV
@JimH5 You can't use an aerial cable to view a Stream Puck on a 2nd TV as it does not support the ancient RF output that the equally ancient Sky + did, you would need a separate stream puck and need the Whole Home sub which allows the use of 3 Glass TVs and 6 pucks in use at the same address.

Samsung 75" 4K TV, Sky Glass Gen 2 55", Sky Stream, EE FTTC Broadband, Three 5G Broadband (Backup), Sony 7.1 AV Receiver, Technisat MultiSat receiver.

Is the TV in your dining room a smart TV with apps? If all you want to do is watch BBC News on it then you can save yourself money by simply connecting the TV to your broadband (as you would have needed to do with an additional Stream puck) and using the iPlayer app on the TV. You can stream all BBC channels, including BBC News, live via iPlayer for free. (Other than the cost of the licence fee obvs.)

Re: Connecting second TV
That sounds interesting BenJoBanjo. I'm not sure how to connect the second TV though. I assume I have to run a cable between the TV's. Easy enough as I can use the old Aerial cable as a draw wire but what sort of cable ends do I need? Or perhaps you mean it can be done wirelessly. Sorry to be so clueless.

Re: Connecting second TV
@JimH5 yes, you would connect the second tv by wifi to your broadband router, just as you would a mobile or any other device. You wouldn't need any connection between the two TVs themselves.

Re: Connecting second TV
Maybe take the time to read some reviews first. All television sets from under £300 to £3000+ are 'smart' these days: priority should be a decent panel, backlight and image processing.
For BBC consumption you should definitely consider a set with Freely on-board.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2
