sky q box intermittent signal loss

I have had sky q for several months without any problems. I noticed earlier today after watching some pre recorded programmes that there was no signal on the sky q box. I turned everything off, then turned  everything back on and the signal duly returned.

Unfortunately the same issue has arisen on a further two occasions. Each time the standby light was on green so there was no obvious indication that anything was wrong and it was only when I switched from watching pre recorded tv to live tv that I discovered the signal loss.

I checked my account on sky tv which stated that my box was fine and I also checked on settings which currently tells me that I have a good signal and that the satellite signal is locked and the signal strength is 80 and the signal quality is 90. I had recorded a programme that was on for about 5 hours but has only recorded the first 1 hr 45 mins so you can see that this is frustrating.

One final point,  I have had some renovation work done in my flat, so I did not watch tv for a week and I  unhooked the two sky dish cables from the back of the tv. I put them back in on Friday and if this issue had started then then I would assume I had not put the cables back in correctly but the box worked perfectly on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and until Monday afternoon.

Any help would be appreciated.

David

Hi @DAVID6000

Could possibly be a poor connection on the cables or a slight dish misalignment .

Work through the following link and if you cannot solve your issue it will lead to booking a Engineer.
Alternately, if you are on a Communal Dish you will need to contact your Landlord or Management company.

Re: sky q box intermittent signal loss

Hi @oldfella

Thanks for the info.

I hope it is not a dish misalignment as prior to getting Q i had sky+ and when the engineer came to change to sky q he told me that the dish was misalighned which was why I was losing channels to no signal on a daily basis.

I will leave it for a day or so and take the dish cables out and put them back in and see if ithat does the trick.
